Lewis Hamilton engaged to Nicole Scherzinger: report

The start to his F1 season may not have been great but Lewis Hamilton may have finally made it to the 'podium' of life, off the track.

Reports in the British media suggests that Hamilton - who had to retire from the Australian GP due to a misfiring engine - may have gotten engaged to long-time girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger. The couple have had a six-year on-off relationship and their romance has been quite public. Now, the UK's Daily Star claims that a source has confirmed that the Mercedes driver and the former Pussycat Dolls singer have decided to take their relationship to the next level.

"Lewis is doing his best to keep the news under wraps but he is absolutely delighted," the source reportedly said. "He got down on one knee and Nicole finally accepted."

Interestingly, 29-year-old Hamilton had 'popped the question' thrice before but Scherzinger had refused each time. The pair even chose separate paths in July last year due to their busy schedules but eventually got back together towards the end of 2013. Rumours suggest that Hamilton and 35-year-old Scherzinger will get married this August. "The plan is they are going to live together in Switzerland and travel together when Lewis is racing. Of course, this means her career will have to take a back seat for a while but she is ready to support him on the track," the source further claimed.

While Hamilton has been busy preparing for the 2014 F1 season, he did post the following on Instragram last week to show that he is, possibly, ready to strike a balance between his professional and personal lives.
