Lewis Hamilton calls for more pace
Hamilton, who finished third in the Chinese Grand Prix, surrendered his lead on only lap five when the Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa streamed past him on the straight.
Lewis Hamilton held off a rampaging Sebastian Vettel to take third in the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday for Mercedes, his second podium for his new team, but said he still wants more from his car.
The Briton, in only his third race for Mercedes since defecting from McLaren, was on pole in Shanghai but surrendered his lead on only lap five when the Ferraris of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa streamed past him on the straight.
Team principal Ross Brawn told former world champion Hamilton on the radio at the end of the race that "we're not quite there yet".
Alonso won the race, with the Lotus of Kimi Raikkonen in second.
Hamilton, also third in Malaysia last month, said: "I'm not really sure where we're losing out (compared to the other two). Today, overall pace was just not there and there's definitely a couple of areas that we can focus on on the car.
"We've got to bring some more updates and keep on improving, but the team is working on that. But at least after this I will go and analyse a little bit and try to figure out whereabouts we're losing the time and see if we can zone in on that and try to improve there."
