Bahrain F1: Karun Chandhok to start in 24th place

Bahrain:

Four world champions will be lining-up at the Bahrain GP today. The race, which is in its 7th year has been pushed to the top of the F1 calendar and there are some mouthwatering prospects to look out for.

The Red Bull has beaten the Prancing Horse, at least in qualifying! Sebastian Vettell snatching his 6th career poll position ahead of Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Feranado Alonso, who are being backed by the bookies as favourites.  

Along with Force India you now have an Indian driver to cheer for too - Karun Chandhok, the second Indian to race in F1 will make his debut with the Hispania racing team. He's starting 24th on the grid. His goal will be to just complete the race.  

From a rookie to a pro, if you thought 41-year-old Michael Schumacher's lost the edge, think again. The legend will start in 7th place on the grid for Mercedes in his comeback race. Schumi, who clinched the Bahrain GP in 2004 is settled in his new team and raring to go.  

"I have to say the guys are very good guys, it is good harmony, particularly knowing the boss quite well and he knows me too so it makes things a lot easier, a lot smoother," said Schumacher.

Lewis Hamilton meanwhile is struggling with his brakes on the heavier McLaren car. The Bahrain circuit has been extended this year. That combined with a ban on refuelling means the cars have to start with a full-tank adding up to 160 kilos of weight.

Right behind Schumacher will be the new McLaren man Jenson Button who won this race last year. He might be the reigning World Champion but he knows this is a brand new season.

"Especially here at Bahrain at the first race, just before I put on my helmet and I look at the car and see the number one, it's going to be an emotional moment but as soon as you step into your car and close your visor last season is out the window and you're already focused on this year," said Button.
 
New teams, new drivers and 19 races. The 2010 season is going to be one hell of a ride. Buckle-up!
