Madrid:

Villarreal moved up to third in the Primera Liga on Sunday with a 1-0 win at home to Albacete that sent their opponents down into the second division. Villarreal's Argentinian contingent was a constant threat for the visitors. Joan Riquelme, on loan from Barcelona, dictated the play from the start and after a smart back heel from Manchester United's on loan Diego Forlan, Lucho Figueroa was denied by Albacete goalkeeper Ronald Gaspercic. Albacete resigned to defending while Villarreal stepped up the pressure after the break in search of a victory that will increase their Champions League prospects. In the meanwhile, Barcelona clinched their first league title in six years on Saturday after a 1-1 draw at Levante gave them an unassailable six-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of the table.
