Sporting Lisbon booked their place in the final of the UEFA Cup on Thursday, following a dramatic finish to their second leg match away at Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. With the tie finishing 2-1 to Alkmaar and 3-3 on aggregate after 90 minutes, a volley from Kew Jaliens in the second period of extra time made it 3-1 to the home side. However, a Miguel Garcia header seconds from the end made it 3-2 on the night, 4-4 overall, and Sporting went through on the away goals rule. They will take on CSKA Moscow on May 18 at their own Jose Alvalade Stadium, the venue for the final having been decided before this year's competition began. (AP)
