Madrid:
Former Brazil defender Roberto Carlos will finish his contract at Real Madrid, ending speculation about his future.
"The left full back, who is currently at the preseason training camp in Irdning (Austria), will complete his contract with the team," Madrid said on Wednesday in a statement on its Web site.
Roberto Carlos has one season left on his contract at Madrid with an option for another year.
The 33-year-old Brazilian said in May he had received an offer from English champion Chelsea for a three-year contract, and over the weekend he was reported to have accepted an offer from Turkey's Fenerbahce.
Madrid coach Fabio Capello brought Roberto Carlos to the club from Inter Milan in 1996 at the start of his previous stint in charge.
Since then, the Brazilian has won three Champions Leagues and three Spanish league titles. (AP)
