Manchester:

Midfielder Park Ji-sung and defender Mikael Silvestre signed contract extensions with Manchester United on Friday. The 25-year-old Park added one year to his deal, which will keep him at Old Trafford until 2010, while the 29-year-old Silvestre will be with the club through 2009 after signing a two-year extension. "Ji-sung has had an impressive first year and I'm pleased to have secured him to the end of the decade at least," Man United manager Alex Ferguson said. "Mikael has been an important member of the squad for seven years now. His experience at the club will help the younger players as they develop and he has a central role to play in the first team." South Korea international Park scored two goals in 45 appearances in his first season since joining from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in July 2005. France international Silvestre has made 334 appearances since arriving from Inter Milan in 1999, winning three league titles and two FA Cups with the Red Devils. (AP)
