42' Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou shows his true mettle and makes a terrific save. Netherlands' Micky van de Ven  takes a shot from just outside the box, but Bono comfortably saves it. The ball goes out for a corner, giving Netherlands another attacking chance.

38' Netherlands' Denzel Dumfries makes a well-timed run into the box and connects with the corner, but his close-range header is superbly blocked, stopping what looked like a certain goal.

35' Netherlands' Crysencio Summerville gets the ball and decides to go on a solo run. He confidently moves ahead but Morocco defenders spoil his plan by intervening and blocking his path. As a result, the scores remain 0-0. 

31' Netherlands' Denzel Dumfries gets carried away as he tries to make it 1-0 for his side. In an attempt of scoring the goal, he breaches the defenders wall and gets inside the box. The linesman quickly signals the off-side. 

26' Morocco's Bilal El Khannouss gets the ball and looks to pass it on Achraf Hakimi. However, his pass goes way beyond Hakimi and Netherlands defenders quickly take control and foil Bilal's plan.

21' WHAT JUST HAPPENED HERE? Netherlands' goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen rises again and this time, he spoils Achraf Hakimi's plan. Achraf Hakimi gets the ball just outside the box and takes a strong shot towards goal. The goalkeeper reacts quickly and makes a great save, pushing the ball out for a corner.

19' WOAH!!! What a save from Netherlands' Bart Verbruggen Morocco's Neil El Aynaoui rises inside the box to meet the corner and directs a powerful header towards the roof of the net, but the Netherlands goalkeeper produces a terrific  save to keep it out. This is surely one of the biggest highlights of the match. 

12' Netherlands' Denzel Dumfries receives the ball and stands in a good position. However, he doesn't find any of his teammates nearby as Morocco defenders intervene and snatch the ball.

10' Morocco's Ismael Saibari's behavior leaves the referee fuming. While trying to get the ball, he shows aggressiveness and engages into a push with a Netherlands player. As a result, referee Wilton Sampaio blows his whistle and signals a foul. Achraf Hakimi tries to intervene but is sent back by the referee. 

6' Achraf Hakimi of Morocco gets a good opportunity to providing his side with an early lead but he fails. Hakimi carves out some space and attempts a floated cross into the box, but it lacks the accuracy needed to trouble the defence.

4' Netherlands' Frenkie De Jong ends up committing a foul while trying to steal the ball. He brings an opponent down during a rough tackle and referee Wilton Sampaio wastes no time and blows his whistle. 

3' Netherlands earn the corner kick but fail to capitalise on it. Crysencio Summerville unleashes the shot but Morocco defenders quickly avert the threat and sends the ball away. A good defence from Morocco.

The FIFA world rankings were released and Morocco are currently holding the seventh spot, while the Netherlands slipped down to the eighth spot. Today's game will be an interesting and a thrilling affair.

Fortunately, the game starts at 3am local time in the Netherlands, minimizing the risk of riots in Dutch cities.

Morocco continues to build on its remarkable rise in world football. The reigning AFCON champion opened its campaign with a creditable draw against Brazil before defeating Scotland and Haiti to secure second place in Group C. Even after falling behind twice against Haiti, the Atlas Lions showcased their resilience by storming back to win 4-2.

The Netherlands reached the knockout rounds after finishing top of its group, recovering from an opening draw against Japan with convincing victories over Sweden and Tunisia. Ronald Koeman's side has gradually found its rhythm, with a balanced blend of possession football and direct attacking play making it one of Europe's more dangerous outfits.

Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi said his team has shown strong performances and character in their first three matches, but stressed that the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32 clash against Netherlands will be a different challenge requiring different solutions.

"In the last three matches, we showed that we are capable of producing good performances and that we have a strong personality on the pitch. But tomorrow's match is different and requires different solutions. That is the mentality with which we will enter the game," he said. 

Netherlands have also made two changes to the side that played against Tunisia. Tijjani Reijnders and Donyell Malen drop out of the lineup, with Micky van de Ven and Crysencio Summerville coming in to replace them.

Morocco have made several changes to their lineup as compared to the side that faced Haiti. Redouane Halhal, Anass Salah-Eddine, Sofyan Amrabat, and Ayoub El Kaabi have all been dropped, while Issa Diop, Noussair Mazraoui, Ayyoub Bouaddi, and Azzedine Ounahi have been included in the starting XI.

Jose Canale scored on the first sudden death penalty kick, Orlando Gill made two key saves in the shootout, and Paraguay beat Germany 4-3 on penalties Monday to earn the biggest upset of the 2026 World Cup so far. The round of 32 match ended 1-1 after extra time. Paraguay took the lead when Julio Enciso scored on a header late in the first half, but Kai Havertz equalized in the 52nd minute for four-time champion Germany.

The heartbreak was all too familiar for Japan at the World Cup. The country's national team hung in until the very end Monday but was eliminated from the tournament — the third straight time Japan has had the lead in the knockout round and lost. This year, it was to five-time champion Brazil 2-1 on a late goal in injury time. After four previous losses in such matches at World Cups, Japan is still searching for its first knockout victory.
