Marseille reach last four of UEFA Cup

Milan:

Camel Meriem's fine individual effort after 47 minutes sealed Marseille's one-nil win over Internzionale on Wednesday at the San Siro stadium in Milan. The win guaranteed the French club a place in the last four of the UEFA Cup, where they will play England's Newcastle United. Marseille has never won this competition. Internazionale's exit means no Italian clubs are left in the European competition this season, less than a year after three Italian sides made the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. Three-time champions, Inter, badly missed the clinical finish of Christian Vieri, hit by a bottle thrown by Perugia fans in Serie A. (AP)
