Poland knew what they had to do coming into this match against Colombia. A point they survive, a loss and they go home empty handed. They did not live up to the task and are now eliminated from this World Cup. They have done nothing in their first two games to earn wins and their captain Robert Lewandowski looked a shadow of himself. A player that scores so frequently for Bayern Munich and in qualifying has been held to zero goals. They will have one more game against Japan to at least get a goal or a point before they go back to Poland.
Colombia stay alive. Their first game was not truly indicative of the teams' skill and form because of the early sending off of Carlos Sanchez. James Rodriguez starting provided the boost that Colombia needed. He got two assists in this game and set up his teammates for success. Colombia look much stronger heading into their third and final game against Senegal. They still have a chance to top the group and will go full steam ahead to clinch their spot in the round of 16.

Group H - Matchday 2 - Poland vs Colombia
Poland and Colombia find themselves in similar positions heading into their meeting today. Both were favorites in their first games but find themselves with zero points. Poland won their qualifying group and came into Group H as favorites to move on. Their first game against Senegal did not go as plan. An own goal and a momentary lack of awareness put them down 0-2 and they eventually lost 1-2. Coach Adam Nawlaka has made many changes to his squad, even changing the teams' formation. The team has shifted into a 3-4-3 from a 4-2-3-1 that they played against Senegal. Jan Bednarek comes in for Thiago Cionek, the play who scored the own goal. Elsewhere on the field Dawid Kownacki, Bartosz Bereszynski, and Jacek Goralski earn the start while Arkadiusz Milik, Kamil Grosicki, and Jakub Blaszcykowski head to the bench. Captain Robert Lewandowski needs to find his scoring boots ahead of this match since he has been the main goal scorer for this Polish team. He needs to carry and lead the team if they want to keep their hopes alive of moving on to the next round.
Colombia's first game did not go as planned either with Carlos Sanchez being given a straight red card for a handball three minutes into Colombia's game against Japan. They were put on the back-foot immediately and had to manage with a man disadvantage for almost the entire match. They fought back hard to get a goal but they eventually fell to Japan 1-2. Colombia will get a big boost in their line-up as James Rodriguez is able to start this game, James led Colombia to the quarter-finals last World Cup and will need to find that form that got him the Golden Boot. Wilmar Barrios, Abel Aguilar, and Yerry Mina will also start while Oscar Murillo, Jefferson Lerma, and Jose Izquierdo start the game on the bench. Carlos Sanchez will not be available for this game due to the red card. A group exit would be disastrous for Colombia and a result against Poland is needed for them to survive.
