A World Cup chess match
Both teams are playing to their strengths, and it's led to quite the clash so far. The Senegalese are using their pace and strength to try to attack the Japanese head on, opting for a more direct approach and quick attacks up either wing - their most deadly attacks have either been crosses or long balls into forwards sprinting behind. Japan, on the other hand, are using their quick passing and excellent positioning to try to make the Senegalese defenders chase the ball in defense. We'll see which approach prevails in the end!
45'
Half time analysis
A superb attacking game so far, as neither side was content to sit back and defend their own goal and preferred to take the game to their opposition. Senegal started the half in the driver's seat and grabbed the opening goal through a keeper error, but Japan bounced right back and their response came 23 minutes later, with some scintillating play the ended in a curled effort from Inui.

Senegal continue their attacking approach along the right side, where they seem to be finding all the joy in the world. Japan are so pinched back that their 10, Shinji Kagawa, is back defending.

A poor clearance allows the ball to fall to Sabaly on the left side of the box. Sabaly unleashes a shot on goal that the Japanese keeper blocks, but right into the knee of Sane! Starting on the right foot
Few people would have predicted that Japan and Senegal would be leading their group after the first match-day, but both teams won their opening games 2-1 and this match promises to be thrilling – there still hasn't been a single scoreless draw in this tournament, and I can't see this game being the first.
