Final comments
This game definitely lived up to its billing, and this tournmanent has still not seen a single game end without a goal! The Mexicans will back themselves to be well placed for the knockout rounds now, and the Germans will have to win their remaining group matches if they want any chance at making it out.
90'
Germany found out
The Mexican players executed their gameplan to a tee, allowing the Germans to have the ball while still preventing them from carrying out any sort of meaningful attacks that would have threatened their goal - when called upon, Ochoa was always in control of the situation. El Tri may have provided a blueprint to the rest of the world on how to defeat Germany, who themselves did not have the pace to keep up with the quick Mexican attacks.
90'
Huge win for Mexico
This is a game that will surely be remembered for a long time in the history books of El Tri – three massive points against the champions of the world, and the Mexicans find themselves in an excellent position to not only progress from the group stage, but perhaps even to win the group.

The last two returning champions have seen their title defence begin with defeat, as both Italy (1-0 to Paraguay) and Spain (5-1 to the Netherlands) ended up on the losing side. The Germans will be hoping to end that streak, but they're up against it here in the second half.

The pace of the Mexicans is really what's causing the Germans problems, with the most dangerous Mexican attacks coming on the counter.
