Thomas Hitzlsperger scored the winning goal on Wednesday to lead Germany over Slovakia 2-1 and open up a five-point lead in Group D of European Championship qualifying.
Germany led 1-0 in the 10th minute after an own-goal by Jan Durica. Christoph Metzelder also scored an own-goal to make it 1-1 in the 20th.
