Morocco have defended well but they've also been a tad fortunate to not be behind by now. It will be interesting to see whether their defence can hold on. As many as six players in today's match risk a suspension for the semi-finals if they get a yellow card in the quarters. France have two players at risk, in Michael Olise and Manu Kone. Morocco have four players at risk, in captain Achraf Hakimi, Issa Diop, Redouane Halhal and Bilal El Khannouss.

Morocco will have to do without star forward Ismael Saibari today against France, as he suffered a hamstring injury in their Round of 16 match against Canada. Saibari is Morocco's top-scorer so far in the World Cup. In his absence, the likes of Chemsdine Talbi and Bilal El Khannouss have been brought in, and they have big shoes to fill.

If France star Michael Olise gets a yellow card today, he will be ruled out of a potential semi-final clash. Olise picked up a yellow in France's Round of 16 win over Paraguay, and a second consecutive yellow will see him banned for France's next game. 

We are about half an hour away from the start of the quarter-final between France and Morocco at Boston Stadium. A rematch of the 2022 semi-final, this time it's a semi-final spot at stake for both nations. France looking to reach a third consecutive World Cup semi-final; Morocco aiming to be the first African nation to reach the World Cup semis twice.

Morocco XI vs France: Here's Morocco's starting XI to take on France in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final today. An interesting approach taken by manager Mohamed Ouahbi, as Brahim Diaz is likely to play as a false nine, with Chemsdine Talbi and Bilal el Khannouss on the wings.

Both France and Morocco head into their quarter-final clash with big injury worries. France are likely to be without defensive midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, who suffered a minor injury ahead of their Round of 16 match against Paraguay. On the other hand, Morocco will be without their top-scorer of the World Cup, Ismael Saibari, who suffered a hamstring injury in their Round of 16 clash against Canada.

There is a distinct French flavour in Morocco's World Cup 2026 squad. As many six players of Morocco's 26-man squad are born in France, with two of them -- centre-back Issa Diop and midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi -- being crucial members of their regular XI. Five players of the squad play their club football in France.

France are yet to lose a game in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026, and have firmly lived up to the tag of 'favourites'. Given their performances so far, it would be hard to argue that they haven't been the best team of the tournament so far.
