New Delhi:
Eight Aurangzeb Road in the Capital was transformed into Brazil, even if it was only for 90 minutes of Brazil's opening match against Croatia.
The Brazilian embassy celebrated the country's first win in the World cup in truly Brazilian style.
"Brazilians play with so much enthusiasm and style and that's why we've come here to support them," said an enthusiast.
Everyone was charged up for the much-anticipated game where the defending champions took on the formidable Croats but the Brazilians seemed confident, even the Ambassador knew his national team's USP.
"We play the game to have fun and some people think that we're not very serious but we've won five World Cups and if we win a sixth time, we will samba a lot more," said Jose V Pimentel, Brazil Ambassador.
Few disappointed
Plenty of Indian fans cheered on the samba boys and they were rewarded with a win though some were disappointed that the score line wasn't bigger.
"It wasn't really expected, it's the first match Brazil played in the World cup and we expected more," said one.
"It's very difficult, but that's part of the World Cup, you can love it or hate it. That's it," said another.
A euphoric atmosphere, a next to perfect beginning and a night filled with song and dance, Brazil's first match in the finals had the Capital swinging to the beats of the Samba.
