San Salvador de Jujuy:
Argentine Apertura leaders Boca Juniors visited mid-table Gimnasia y Esgrima Jujuy on Sunday.
The home side took the game to their illustrious visitors and only a marvellous save from Boca goalkeeper Aldo Bobadilla from Gustavo Balvorin's left-foot piledriver prevented Gimnasia from taking the lead early on.
But Boca hit back and went ahead against the run of play after 27 minutes - Neri Cardozo curling the ball home to almost total silence in the stadium.
Gimnasia managed to equalise in first half injury time though.
Bobadilla turned from hero to zero as he fumbled Gabriel Ramon's shot on the turn after a corner on the right.
So, 1-1 at the break, but the deadlock was broken 18 minutes into the second period through Boca central defender Daniel Diaz's rocket of a free-kick - Gimnasia goalkeeper Jose Valdiviezo barely getting his hands on the ball as it flew past him into the net.
That was the signal for a Gimnasia onslaught on the Boca goal.
The best chance fell to Balvorin, but this time Bobadilla was back to his best.
His excellent save ensured Boca won the game 2-1 to maintain their four-point lead over Estudiantes at the top of the table with the season fast approaching a climax. (AP)
