FIFA World Cup 2026 | Algeria & Argentina Fans Sing, Wave Flags Ahead Of World Cup Match

Algerian and Argentina fans were out early in Kansas City on Tuesday (16 June) to get warmed up for the evening World Cup match when the defending champions open their tournament against Algeria at Kansas City's Arrowhead Stadium. Fans lined the streets and packed the streetcars to arrive early at the city's fan festival closer to downtown. They sported either the blue and white stripes of the Argentina team or the green and white of the Algeria team. Fans like Areli Alvarez drove all the way from Texas, for what she described as a once in a lifetime opportunity to see star Lionel Messi. Algerian fans like Aniss Gamassi, of Montreal, said getting to see the World Cup much closer to his home was great.
