Tottenham moved level on points with third-place Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, beating Swansea 3-1 to end a five-match winless run and keep Chelsea and Newcastle at arm's length in the battle to finish in the Champions League spots.

Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor scored two headed goals in the final 17 minutes as fourth-place Spurs maintained the gap to their rivals below them to five points with seven rounds left.

Newcastle's surprise push for European football next season gathered momentum with a 2-0 win over struggling Liverpool, keeping Alan Pardew's side on the same number of points as Chelsea.

Papiss Demba Cisse grabbed Newcastle's goals, with Liverpool finishing with 10 men following the late sending-off of goalkeeper Jose Reina.
