Wigan midfielder Jordi Gomez showed his commitment to the relegation-haunted English Premier League club by signing a new two-year contract.

Wigan are second from bottom in the league with eight games remaining, but despite the threat of relegation Gomez, 26, will remain with the club until 2014.

His contract was due to expire in the summer.
