India vs England, 5th Test, Day 2 Highlights: Riding on Jasprit Bumrah's 3/35 and a wicket each from Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, India reduced England to 84/5 on Day 2 of the ongoing fifth Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Bumrah led from the front as he dismissed England openers Alex Lees and Zak Crawley before claiming the wicket of Ollie Pope to put India in complete control against the hosts. The stand-in India captain was on top his powers on Saturday with his all-round abilities. Before shining with the ball, Bumrah had scored a quickfire 31 not out off 16. Earlier, Rishabh Pant (146) and Ravindra Jadeja (104) hit centuries as India posted a total of 416 all out against England. Stuart Broad took his 550th Test wicket, but also bowled the most expensive over in Test cricket history -- conceding 35 runs. James Anderson returned figures of 5/60 while Matthew Potts scalped two for 105.
One brings two! Mohammed Shami has got the wicket of Jack Leach. It was bowled from round the stumps from Shami. The ball pitched and swung outside a bit but the the deflection was enough to take the edge of Leach's willow. England are in some real trouble!
Joe Root has been dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. He bowled it through scrambled seam to Root and the ball took some vicious bounce off the surface to suprise the England batter. Root edged the ball to Pant in the process and departed on 31.
India have lost one of their reviews. A Mohammed Shami delivery hit Joe Root's front pad but the umpire was convinced it was not out. Shami convinced Bumrah to go up stairs and the ball was found to be going over the stumps.
The play has finally resumed after a long delay. While England eye a good partnership, India eye some more quick wickets to put the hosts completely under pressure.
The rain is as determined as the Indian team and hence we are likely to have an early Tea in this game. The current expected time for the same is 9 PM IST.
While Jasprit Bumrah scored a crucial 31 off 16 balls with the bat, he has picked all the three wickets England have lost in their ongoing innings so far. This is a perfect example of captain leading front the front.
Rain has stopped play again. England batters won't be happy with the one and off game. Considering India's performance, they too won't like this stoppage either.
