Usman Khawaja | 6 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
b Usman Khan
1 OUT! TIMBER! Usman Khan strikes with a peach of a delivery. A well-deserved wicket this as this was a top, top first over and he ends it in the best possible manner. He bowled an inswinger two balls prior which got the inside edge, the ball prior to this one was the away swinger which beat the outside edge. Went back to bringing it back in and gets the better of the in-form Khawaja. Also it is full. Khawaja is rooted to his crease as he looks to drive, leaves a big gap between bat and pad, the ball sneaks through and hits the stumps behind. Khan is pumped up and Pakistan are off to the ideal start. A wicket maiden to begin with by Usman. 0/1

Aaron Finch C | 90 | 136 | 5 | 1 | 66.17 |
c Haris Sohail b Yasir Shah
41.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Finch departs. A fuller length delivery on off with a flight. Finch lofts it above mid on but finds Haris Sohail at the long on boundary. An easy catch for Haris Sohail to stop Finch getting another century in this series. A top flighted delivery by Shah, Finch was all set to muscle it out of the park, but fails. 188/5

|||||
Shaun Marsh | 14 | 19 | 3 | 0 | 73.68 |
c Shan Masood b Junaid Khan
5.4 OUT! In the air... taken! Junaid makes an impact straightaway. The bowling change works wonders for Pakistan. Shaun Marsh has been dismissed for not a lot now. He though can consider himself a touch unlucky here. Firstly a good delivery from Khan, it is on the stumps and pitched on a length. It skids through. Marsh looks to defend but ends up playing outside the line. The ball takes the inside edge, hits the pad and then lobs as far as short mid-wicket. Masood at mid-wicket runs in and takes a sliding catch. The Pakistan players appeal and the umpire raises his finger. They do check for the front foot but it is fine. Australia in a spot of bother here. 20/2

Peter Handscomb | 47 | 43 | 6 | 0 | 109.30 |
b Haris Sohail
23.1 OUT! CASTLED! What a delivery! Not a lot Handscomb could have done with that. Sohail slows this one up and bowls it on middle, Handscomb lunges and then looks to drive through the line. The ball though turns away, beats the outside edge and hits the off pole. Handscomb can't believe it as he trudges off slowly. Needed something special to break this stand as the two were looking at ease and Sohail provides it. 104/3
|
|||||
Marcus Stoinis | 10 | 16 | 1 | 0 | 62.5 |
b Imad Wasim
30.5 OUT! Another batsman has been knocked over! Third of the four wickets have been bowled. Stoinis is the man walking back and he once again fails to make an impact. Imad who was normally firing it in, slows it up this time. It lands on the leg pole. Stoinis is done in by the pace as he looks to hit it over mid on. He is way too early in the shot. Misses, the ball hits his pads and then deflects onto the leg stump. Wickets at regular intervals are not letting Australia score freely. 140/4

Glenn Maxwell | 71 | 55 | 8 | 1 | 129.09 |
run out (Mohammad Rizwan)
48 OUT! Direct hit and Maxi is gone! Well, a bit too late but Pakistan will take it. This could be the difference between a 260 and a 275. With Maxwell around, anything could have been achieved. A slower ball, outside off, short in length, Maxi looked to pull but missed. He was very careless to stand out of his crease and an alert Rizwan just over-arms at the stumps. Bull's eye and Maxwell has to go. Wonderful knock, has given his team something to defend. 249/6

20.4 OUT! LBW! Three reds and Pakistan lose both - Imam and a review. The arm ball from Maxwell, Imam does not read it and plays from the crease. Big mistake. Because the ball skids through, beats his bat and hits him on the pad. Maxwell roars an LBW shout and the umpire agrees. Imam though wants the review but Hawk Eye does not support him. 75/4

Shan Masood | 2 | 9 | 0 | 0 | 22.22 |
c Peter Handscomb b Pat Cummins
4.2 OUT! Caught at slip! Masood heads back to the dressing room really early tonight. A perfect length outside off and Masood comes on the front foot to defend the ball but he does not account for the away movement off the pitch. Takes the edge and the ball goes low to the left of slip. Handscomb there dives low and stretches out his left arm to hold onto the catch. Brilliant stuff this! 14/1
|
|||||
Haris Sohail | 1 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 16.66 |
c Shaun Marsh b Pat Cummins
6.3 OUT! 'Unplayable' yells Ramiz Raja on air! And indeed it was. Another outside edge and another wicket for Cummins caught at slip. A length ball outside off, bounces a bit more than Sohail expects as he tries to defend the ball away from his body. It takes the edge of the shoulder of the bat and carries to first slip. Marsh out there takes a comfortable catch at a good height and Pakistan in a huge spot of bother here early on in their innings. 16/2
|
|||||
Mohammad Rizwan Wk | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Alex Carey b Pat Cummins
7 OUT! It is indeed out. There is a spike on the Snickometer. Rizwan, the hero of the last match, the centurion has to head back with a duck to his name tonight. A length ball just outside off, Rizwan looks to defend it but the ball seems to have gone past his outside edge. There is an appeal from the bowler and the keeper but the umpire is unmoved. Pat Cummins forces his skipper to take it upstairs. The replays roll in, and guess what. There is indeed a nick on that. Rizwan departs. Pakistan in huge trouble here, having lost the third within 7 overs! 16/3
|
|||||
Shoaib Malik C | 31 | 50 | 1 | 0 | 62 |
c Peter Handscomb b Nathan Lyon
25.3 OUT! Caught! Malik falls this time. A nice floated delivery on off, Shoaib Malik dances down the track and with the turn hits it to deep mid-wicket and Handscomb take an easy catch. Malik was looking solid in this innings, he just gave his wicket away. The trick to back Lyon back on attack worked for Finch. 96/5
|
|||||
Umar Akmal | 36 | 46 | 3 | 0 | 78.26 |
c Pat Cummins b Jason Behrendorff
36.2 OUT! Akmal has holed out in the process of looking to accelerate! A length ball on middle, Akmal comes down the track and wants to hit it over mid-wicket but the bat turns in his hand as he completes the shot. The ball goes more towards square leg where Cummins take a good running catch. Holds on and that is surely a telling blow for the hosts. They need 118 runs in 82 balls with just 4 wickets left. 149/6
|
|||||
Imad Wasim | 43 | 53 | 4 | 0 | 81.13 |
st Alex Carey b Adam Zampa
42.1 OUT! Imad falls now. And the last hope for Pakistan going back to the hut. A flighted delivery on off, Imad falls for the trap. Dances down the pitch and misses the ball completely. Alex Carey just whips the bails off. Hang on! Replays show us that he had collected the ball in front of the stumps but it has gone unnoticed. Not that it would have mattered much in the context of the game, but it should have been spotted. 178/7

42.4 OUT! Shinwari heads to the pavilion now. Australia romping home! Flatter outside off and Usman hits it really hard and flat. The ball flies to long off where Jason Behrendorff takes a smart catch. Another two to complete the formalities here at Abu Dhabi. 178/8
|
|||||
Junaid Khan | 5 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 62.5 |
c Alex Carey b Adam Zampa
44.3 OUT! Caught! Number 9 falls and Zampa has his third in the span of 9 balls. Tossed up outside off, Junaid comes down the track and swings hard but is nowhere close to the ball. It spins away, takes the top edge and goes high in the air. Carey calls for it and takes it reverse-cup. 186/9
|
|||||
Mohammad Hasnain | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
lbw b Adam Zampa
44.4 OUT! Decision overturned and that is the end of the match. Full length delivery on off, turning in for the right-hander. Hasnain fails to read the googly. He fails to connect the bat to the ball while defending. The ball hits his back leg. Zampa appeals but the umpire turns it down. Finch has a chat and then takes it upstairs. Hawk Eye shows the ball will hit the leg stump. A comfortable 80-run victory for Australia. 186/10
