Skipper Karun Nair anchored a tricky chase with a polished 90 as India A beat South Africa A by six wickets in the second 'unofficial' Test to level the two-match series 1-1.

South Africa lost opener Stephen Cook for a duck in the first over of their second innings and, despite a 20-minute delay when the University Oval was evacuated after a fire alarm in the main grandstand, they survived without further loss until bad light stopped play.

South Africa were 351 for five at stumps, an overall lead of 432 on a ground where no team has successfully chased more than 271 in the fourth innings

The South African Invitation XI will play India on December 14 and 15, ahead of the two-test series that starts on December 18.
