South Africa-born Max Sorensen was called up to the national squad during Ireland's tour to Kenya in February 2012. On his first-class debut he helped Ireland win the game by 10 runs. He also made his Twenty20 debut on the same tour where he had figures of 2/17 guiding the Irish to a comfortable win. Following an impressive display on tour he was drafted into the squad for the 2012 World Twenty20 Qualifiers.
