Hamish Kyle Bennett Profile
By nature Hamish Bennett is a hit-the-deck type of bowler. This skill coupled with his additional ability to generate pace in the mid-140 kph range, propped him up on the international stage in an ODI series against Bangladesh in 2010.
Bennett who made his first-class debut for Canterbury in 2005 also played in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup, and had been a part of their ‘’Emerging Players’’ side for a good part of four years. A steady performer in the Kiwi domestic circuit, he was instrumental in Canterbury winning the State Championship in 2008. A surprise inclusion in the ODI squad for the 2010 Bangladesh tour, Bennett came on as first-change bowler on debut and immediately impressed with his pace and accuracy ending up with three wickets. He then went on to make an inauspicious Test debut on the 2010 tour to India, wherein a groin injury crippled him midway through the game.
