Sahan Arachchige

Sahan Arachchige is a left-handed batting all-rounder who bowls right-arm off-spin. A product of Ananda College, he progressed through Sri Lanka’s youth pathway, representing the national Under-19 team before making his mark in domestic cricket.

He made his First-Class debut for Colts Cricket Club during the 2015–16 season and went on to make his List A and T20 debuts for the side in 2016. Over the years, he established himself with career-best scores of 167 in First-Class cricket and 120 in List A cricket. Arachchige later joined Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC), where his consistency across formats established him as a key domestic figure and earned him frequent selections for Sri Lanka A, Sri Lanka Emerging, and franchises in the Lanka Premier League.

Known for his composure in high-pressure situations, Arachchige made his international debut in 2023 during the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier against the West Indies. Just days later, he played a crucial role in the tournament final, scoring a vital maiden ODI half-century (57) against the Netherlands to help Sri Lanka secure the title. Later that year, he made his T20I debut against Afghanistan at the Hangzhou Asian Games, where he also captained Sri Lanka's squad.

Following steady performances on the domestic circuit, Arachchige enjoyed a career-defining campaign in the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he enjoyed his best season by scoring 240 runs across 11 matches. His versatility and form earned him a recall to the national Test setup, being added to Sri Lanka's squad for the second Test against India in August 2026. He was subsequently appointed captain of Sri Lanka's 15-member squad for the 2026 Asian Games, bringing vital international experience, tactical adaptability, and middle-order stability to a side featuring the country's top emerging talent.
