The skipper of UAE, AMJAD JAVED says it's fun playing in India on the big stage and adds that he's disappointed at not qualifying for the World T20. Says he is pleased qualifying for the Asia Cup. Continues saying that the management made it clear and simple that if they win all the games they will qualify. Adds saying the morale was high after they beat Ireland and Afghanistan in friendlies earlier. Ends saying it was fun to play in the 50 over format and will be good to play against the opposition teams in the T20 format.

Oman's defeat means that Afghanistan have been also knocked out. Afghanistan will be disappointed at having failed to reach the main stage of the Asia Cup but UAE deserved their spot, having won all games in the Qualifying stage. The task ahead is huge for UAE as they have to deal with the big boys India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. A challenge it will be but in T20 format, anything can happen and who knows, UAE could even cause an upset.
Earlier in the evening, UAE put up a formidable total on the board, riding on Muhammad Kaleem's fluency at the top and a powerful gem at the death by Usman whose knock ensured that the total got beyond the reach of Oman. For a major portion of UAE's innings, they weren't quite able to force the pace but they cut loose at the death. In the end, they had more than enough runs on the board.
UAE's bowlers deserve credit for landing the ball in the right areas without letting the batsmen off the hook. The accuracy in bowling forced Oman's batters to take risks which in turn saw them lose wickets at regular intervals. Naveed was the pick of the bowlers with a fine new ball spell while Qadeer too was decent. The pressure created by the duo enabled the rest to have a grip on Oman's batsmen.
Emphatic win for UAE as they storm their way into the main stage of the 2016 Asia Cup. Chasing 173 to win, Oman were never really in it as they lost too many wickets upfront. Thereafter, they couldn't just catch up and the fact that they had to chase within 14 overs to qualify didn't help their cause either. Too many batsmen got out playing indecisive strokes that led to their downfall. Zeeshan alone showed some grit but he couldn't do much with wickets falling around him.
