Right then, we are done with the first game of this season. But there is more coming your way. The second match of the day is between Barbados Tridents and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Do join us at 1730 local (2130 GMT) (0300 IST, Aug 19) for all the action. Cheers!
Kieron Pollard, the Trinbago skipper, says that it is important to start any tournament with a win. Admits that they were a little shabby and scratchy at the start but they will take the win. Adds that they have lost 3 times in a row to Guyana but that counted for nothing. States that they were thinking of giving Jayden Seales a chance to have a feel about how the tournament is like at the earliest. Tells that this is the hurricane season in the Caribbean but there can be no excuses and they will have to perform well whenever they get a chance.
Chris Green, the Guyana skipper, says that it was disappointing not to get the desired result but they will look to improve and he is looking forward to the next match. States that they thought that 140 would be a good score after losing a couple of early wickets. Goes on to say that King is a great character and he showed it in the field with his fielding, even though he dropped a catch.
For his all-round show in the match, SUNIL NARINE IS THE MAN OF THE MATCH! Says that Ross Taylor was playing really well and his skipper had faith in him to get Taylor's wicket and it worked. Adds that he just focused on the ball when batting. States that it is a good win and it means a lot to them as they have not played cricket for a long time. Goes onto add that the guys did a very good job and they will look to build on this win in the upcoming matches.
Guyana Amazon Warriors started well with the ball but then completely lost the plot when the Knight Riders attacked. They did manage to pick a few quick wickets towards the end and push this match into the final over but overall, their bowling was not up to the mark. Imran Tahir, Romario Shepherd and Chris Green were very expensive which never allowed any pressure to build on Trinbago. Earlier in the day, the Warriors were powered by the knock of Shimron Hetmyer but they didn't get enough kick at the death.
Chasing 145 on a slowish surface often turns out to be tricky. Guyana started brilliantly with the ball as there were 12 dots in the first 18 balls of the run chase and the score read only 9 runs after the first three overs. But then, the Knight Riders pressed on the accelerator and hammered 36 runs in the next 3. Having Sunil Narine open the batting also helped them as his fearless approach handed them quick runs. Although he was slow to get off the blocks, he more than made up for it by scoring a brisk half-century. His knock nearly put the chase to bed as there wasn't any scoreboard pressure post his departure.
A little too close for comfort but Trinbago Knight Riders have eventually crossed the line to win their season opener. It was an entertaining contest to begin the season and Caribbean Premier League is up and running in style. There was a delayed start in the beginning due to rain and wet outfield and this match was reduced to 17-overs-per-side but there was no shortage of quality cricket.

FOUR! There it is! Dwayne Bravo finishes it in style. Good length ball outside off, Bravo whacks it over extra cover for a boundary. TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS WIN BY 4 WICKETS.

WIDE! Appeal for caught behind but the umpire thinks otherwise and signals it a wide. Good length ball angling down the leg side, Dwayne looks to flick but misses. Pooran appeals but the umpire shakes his head and stretches his arms. 2 needed from 3 balls.
Sikandar Raza is the next man in.

Naveen-ul-Haq To Darren Bravo OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Is there a twist in the tale? Darren Bravo cannot finish the job with his side still needing 3 runs to win from 3 balls. Slower delivery on off, Bravo looks to push but is early into the shot. He has to check his shot. It goes off the top half of the bat and towards covers and Hetmyer runs in to complete the catch with a dive.

Just short! Slower short ball outside off, Dwayne looks to pull but is a little early into the shot. It takes the top edge and goes towards deep square leg. The ball lands short of the fielder and the batters take a single.

Keemo Paul To Tim Seifert OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Wow, that is a terrific catch from Brandon King! His third of the match! He dropped a simple one of Narine earlier in the game but now has taken a one-handed stunner. Just stunning. Keeping Guyana in the game with this catch. Good length ball outside off, Seifert looks to go over extra cover but it goes uppishly in that region. King runs across to his left from wide mid off and dives to take a one-handed blinder. 14 required from 11 balls. Guyana still holding on.
Keemo Paul is back into the attack.

SIX! Just eludes Green at long on! Imran Tahir cannot believe it and he is down on the ground. Bravo would have had his heart in his mouth. Tossed up on middle, Bravo looks to go over long on but does not time it well. Green leaps but the ball goes over his outstretched hand for a maximum. This will release some pressure.

Imran Tahir To Kieron Pollard OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Can you believe it? A full toss has fetched Tahir a wicket! Here he goes on his celebratory run! Pollard will be disappointed as he could have bashed it for a biggie but instead has found the fielder to perfection. Tahir bowls a full toss on the pads, Pollard, instead of thrashing it into the stands, looks to place it. He does so but uppishly and straight into the hands of Brandon King at long on. 23 needed from 17. Can Guyana make a comeback?
