First points on the board for the Patriots then. They stay at the bottom though. We have a bit of a break now, with a wounded Jamaica Tallawahs ready to take on Guyana Amazon Warriors for revenge at 5.30 pm local (2130 GMT). Do join us back at that time. ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Victorious St Kitts And Nevis Patriots captain, Rayad Emrit, is happy that they could register their first win. Stresses that finally, one set batsan could bat through and the effect showed. On the Lewis-Ramdin stand, Emrit says that it was an important partnership but perhaps they batted a bit slow in the middle overs. But adds that they had the confidence in Lewis that he could make up for that. On the young Jon-Russ Jaggesar, Rayad says that he is a great talent but overall, he believes that they gave 15 runs a bit too many. On the pitch, Emrit says that this is not a slow one like Tarouba but has something in it for both, bowlers and batsmen.
Barbados Tridents skipper, Jason Holder, feels that 151 was a par score. Perhaps 5-10 runs shy but he believes his team fought hard. Feels that it was not an easy wicket to bat on and definitely not one where you could start hitting from the word go. Believes that unlike the Patriots, no one from his team could convert their start. Believes that the bowlers did really well and feels sad for the young Nyeem Young, who was doing exceptionally well till that final over.
EVIN LEWIS HAS BEEN NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH. Lewis says that it great to have won the game. Says that he was looking to give a good start and then make use of that, staying till the end. On his partnership with Ramdin, Evin says that Ramdin is the main batsman in the middle order with Dunk coming in towards the end to finish things off. Believes that this win could change their fortunes around in this tournament. Ends by saying that he enjoyed his innings as he always backs himself to do well on this ground.
Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier, the Tridents huffed and puffed their way to 151/7. It was a team effort with batsmen making 20s and stitching on decent partnerships. Newbie Jaggesar was the most effective bowler, with 2 wickets.
Jason Holder tried everything. First, he bowled a frugal spell, trying to contain the batsmen. Then, he had Rashid Khan bamboozle in the middle overs. But then, he tried to give confidence to the youngsters, like the Walshs, Reifers, Youngs and the Mayers. They did decently too, except for that final over. But why overlook Santner? Santner bowled just 2 overs. He could have done better with Ramdin on strike.
Lewis' change in gear put the Tridents on the back foot. Holder started to run out of ideas but then, the heat started taking its toll. Both, Ramdin and Lewis started to tire down and were mistiming their shots. From a position of great strength, the Patriots lost their way, with 20 needed from 9 balls. However, a little bit of nervous bowling in the last over helped them get through.
The Patriots were in trouble at 41/2 in the Powerplay but Lewis found an able ally in Denesh Ramdin. The duo added 78 for the third wicket, of which Lewis scored 56! The plan was clear, give the strike to Lewis and Lewis alone.
152 was supposed to be a tricky total to chase on this deck. 140 was considered to be a winning one. Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis strode out and did what they always do - bash the ball. That 34-run opening stand gave some momentum but after that, it was all Lewis.
Phew. If looks could tell. Sohail Tanvir's face tells everything. He looks extremely relieved this game is done and he is not on strike! What a game, folks. A flowing start, then a choke and then the rise.

Nyeem Young To Ben Dunk
SIX! PATRIOTS WIN BY 6 WICKETS! A length ball, around middle, Dunk pulls it over square leg and clears the ropes! Relief on the face of Tanvir. The Patriots finally open their account in CPL 2020.
Change in field. Square leg drops back.

Nyeem Young To Ben Dunk
SIX! Is that a match-winning shot? Full and outside off, Dunk goes over the off side and clears cover! That is an intelligent shot. You know that Young is trying to angle the ball across you, so don't go cross-batted. 6 needed from 4 deliveries.

Nyeem Young To Ben Dunk
SAFE AS A HOUSE. A length ball, outside off, Ben looks to pull but misses. He looks for the bye but is sent back as Shai Hope has a shy at the stumps. He hits and it is referred upstairs. Replays show that Dunk is back in. 12 needed from 5 balls.
Is that a run out? No one seems overly excited. Yes, the replays show why. Dunk is safely in.

Nyeem Young To Ben Dunk
WIDE. Reload. Full and wide outside off, Dunk looks to reach out to steer it to third man but misses. 12 needed from 6 balls.
Right...final over, 12 to defend. Can Mayers do what Holder did last night? The Tridents were 145/6 at this stage. They got just 6 from their final over. Wil that come back to haunt them?

Kyle Mayers To Ben Dunk
FOUR! This is called reading the bowler. Dunk knows that Mayers will be either looking to go full or try the yorker. So he shapes up to pick it on the full. Gets under the ball, which is a full toss and reverse paddles it over short third man! 16 needed from 8 balls now...
Sohail Tanvir has been promoted to number 6. He replaces Lewis.

Kyle Mayers To Evin Lewis OUT!
UP, UP AND OUT! Is that the game? Full and outside off, slower one, Lewis looks to go big but his tired hands cannot summon enough power on the shot. He miscues it towards long off and Rashid Khan takes a dolly. End of a whirlwind innings. But his team is choking big time. 20 needed from 9 balls!

Kyle Mayers To Ben Dunk
Terrific bowling. Low full toss, dipping in, alost a yorker, Dunk can barely get his bat to it as he pushes this towards long off for a run.

Full and outside off, Lewis throws all his power behind that, but can only manage to hit it as far as long off for a single.

Full and outside off, Evin drives it towards long off for one. Excellent comeback by the kid. The first ball went for a six, the remaining 5 for just 3. 22 needed from 12 balls now. The Patriots are 130/3, while the Tridents were 136/5.
