That is it from this game! The action keeps on coming from the World Cup as on the 14th of this month, we will see Australia take on Bangladesh at 10.30 pm IST (5 pm GMT) Do join us for the build up. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Sune Luus first thanks the crowd for the support. Adds they wanted to bat with intent and build some stand. Reckons the spinners did a brilliant job but overall a good bowling performance. On Chloe Tryon, she says she showed her class and made a difference.
Sophie Devine says she is not sure what is happening with the bat, feels it is embarrassing and not good enough at this level. Adds they believed they will chase it down but they are disappointed now. Reckons they have to let go of the emotions and take some time away.
Chloe Tryon is the Player of the Match. She says they knew it was important to win this match and they just did the basics right. Adds they needed this win badly. Reckons she felt 15-20 runs short. Tells she is loving the role with the ball and is happy to get some wickets.
Presentation time...
New Zealand Women just didn't arrive with the bat. After losing Brits in the first over, they never got themselves up. The Kiwis kept on losing wickets. Hopes were tangled with Sophie Devine in the middle but she was struggling badly and once she got out it was just a procession. Nothing to blame on the bowling side but New Zealand Women have to do much better than this with the bat.
A no-contest really! New Zealand were outsmarted by the hosts who kick off the tournament finally. South Africa Women really turned up when it mattered the most. First, after choosing to bat, kept on losing wickets but the stand between Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk turned out to be a match winning one as both scored some crucial runs. Above 130 is always going to be a tough one but with some brilliant bowling, South Africa builded the pressure with some amazing fielding as well.
