Saturday, 19th June, 2021, sees the final double header in the league stage of the 2021 Pakistan Super League. Quetta and Karachi clash in the evening game, at 5 pm local (1300 GMT) while at 10 pm local (1800 GMT), Islamabad United meet Multan Sultans, which we believe is more of a position confirmer for the latter, rather than a game to stay alive in the competition. Join us for both the clashes. Until then, ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Right-o. Lahore Qalandars have hit themselves on the foot with this batting display. They drop down to fourth but will have to wait for Saturday's match between Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings. A win for Karachi would knock the Qalandars out. Multan Sultans are second for now, taking Peshawar Zalmi through to the playoffs. They themselves are almost through as well, but a highly complex mathematical calculation can perhaps prevent their entry and hence, we have to wait till the league stage ends. The good thing for them is - their fate is in their own hands.
Victorious Multan Sultans captain, MOHAMMAD RIZWAN, says that he is satisfied with this win, as it came through a team effort. Praises Sohaib Maqsood first and then Sohail Tanvir for changing the momentum in the final over of the first innings and later, a commanding team performance with the ball. Stresses that before the match, the stress is to play it by the moment and then leave it to the performance on the field.
SHAHNAWAZ DHANI HAS BEEN NAMED AS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He is given the maroon cap as well, which indicates that he is the leading wicket taker of this edition. Says that he is definitely enjoying his form and hopes that he continues in the same manner. Is proud of the fact that he is the current leading wicket taker of the competition and hopes to take his team into the final. Relishes his experience of playing with superstars of Pakistan. Dedicates his award to his coaches Azhar Mahmood, Andy Flower and the entire supporters from Lahore.
Lahore Qalandars skipper, Sohail Akhtar, says that there was some moisture in the wicket, hence the reason to chase, but laments the poor batting effort. On Ben Dunk's promotion to open, Akhtar says that Dunk himself wished to open and looking at his experience, the management agreed but it did not work out. Does not want to look too much into the final over of the first innings where Sohail Tanvir changed the complexion of the game and maintains that his bowlers have bowled well throughout the competition.
... THE PRESENTATION ...
Earlier in the evening, Multan did not actually start well but hung in there, through Sohaib Maqsood. His innings of 60 from 40 balls gave the side plenty of confidence and his stand of 63 in 42 balls with Rilee Rossouw for the fourth wicket pushed Lahore Qalandars back. However, the latter did come back strongly, only to let it slip in the final over. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Another chase, another farce. And this one was self-inflicted, with Lahore opting to field. Their bowlers actually did well in the first half, but one bad last over, shifted the momentum. Then with the bat, no one turned up and they could not even get to a 100. 22 was the highest individual score in a batting line-up which had 5 single-digit scores. This insipid batting has got them into a lot of trouble.
What a drubbing. First, a momentum shift in the final over of the first innings and then, a commanding performance with the ball. Lahore Qalandars have been really poor this season while chasing and Multan Sultans have just rubbed salt on their wounds. Except Sohail Tanvir, every bowler got a wicket but it was a stunning team effort. Imran Khan started the rut, dismissing Ben Dunk, but then Shahnawaz Dhani just ran through the middle order. The duo shared 7 wickets with combined figures of 7.1-1-29-7.

Shahnawaz Dhani To Shaheen Afridi OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! MULTAN SULTANS WIN BY 80 RUNS! Dhani ends this game with a wicket, his fourth. A length ball, outside off, angling away, Shaheen Afridi looks to pull it away but gets a top edge. The ball goes in the air and Rilee Rossouw takes it calmly at cover. Tremendous performance.

Shahnawaz Dhani To Rashid Khan OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! Stunning catch from Mohammad Rizwan and Dhani has his second in the over! A short ball, outside off, Rashid Khan looks to pull but gets a mighty top edge. Now, here comes some drama. The ball is swirling towards fine leg and two people are after it, or for it. The keeper, Rizwan, runs to his left, behind. The man at fine leg, Blessing Muzarabani, comes running in too. At some point, both look at one another and almost like a telepathy, Muzarabani bails out of the catch. No message given, no signal shown. Rizwan marches on, dives full strength and takes a ripper. A DOUBLE-WICKET MAIDEN FOR DHANI! His figures read 3-1-5-3!

Shahnawaz Dhani To Rashid Khan
A rip-roaring short ball, outside off, kicks off right at the face of Rashid Khan, he takes his eyes off and looks to fend and gets hit on the gloves. The ball lobs in the air but dies down beside the pitch on his off side. Poor young Dhani, is actually apologizing to Rashid!
Shaheen Afridi walks in at number 9, replacing James Faulkner.

Shahnawaz Dhani To James Faulkner OUT!
OUT! CAUGHT! For the second time in 2 overs, we have a review struck down or retained, only to be followed by a wicket. Forget Mohali, Bengaluru, 'Gabba - 2013 or 2014 - this match looks done. Faulkner is out of here. A short ball, outside off, James Faulkner looks to pull but does not quite hit this from the middle of the bat. He miscues it towards deep mid-wicket where Imran Tahir comes running in and takes a good catch.

Shahnawaz Dhani To James Faulkner
Is that a nick? Shahnawaz Dhani feels so. But the keeper, Mohammad Rizwan, is not sure. In the end, Rizwan reluctantly goes with his bowler and signals for the review. Nothing on the UltraEdge when the ball passes the bat. Beautiful ball though. A length ball, outside off, James Faulkner backed away to the leg side and looked to guide this towards third man. But the ball came in, cramped him for room and deviated away, towards the keeper. Dhani was confident that he had his man and appealed and later, pleaded with the umpire but was denied. He tried to convince his keeper cum skipper but Rizwan did not want to take the review either. However, in the end, he went with his bowler.
Shahnawaz Dhani is back on. 2-0-5-1 so far.

Imran Khan To Rashid Khan
Short, outside off, crunched behind point. Imran Tahir runs across to his right from third man, slides and stops the ball. Two runs taken. 8 runs and a wicket from that over, Imran Khan's figures read 3-0-20-2.
STRATEGIC TIME OUT. Ahh well, another run chase and the Qalandars are faltering. Leave aside James Faulkner, who has walked out like there is no tomorrow, there is nothing much to talk about in this batting lineup. Batting is definitely difficult, but to spot some application from the batsmen is even more difficult. Faulkner is trying his level best to rekindle Mohali-Bengaluru 2013 and 'Gabba 2014, but he will need some support. Could Rashid Khan provide that?

Imran Khan To Tim David OUT!
OUT! BOWLED! No need for a review this time! Straight, back of a length, outside off. Tim David swings hard but early. The ball goes past the bat and hits the top of off stump! Imran Khan is pumped up again. The dangerous-looking stand is broken. Nothing much from David tonight. Lahore Qalandars need 87 more from 43 balls.

Imran Khan To Tim David
Straight and huge appeal from Imran Khan. Umpire Aleem Dar walks away and shakes his head. A confident Imran straightaway calls for a review to his skipper. Looks close, from the first replay. No bat involved, as per the UltraEdge. And the ball is CLIPPING LEG STUMP! Close, close call. A length ball it was, from over the wicket, sliding down, David looked to pull but missed and was rapped on the pads.
