That is it from this game but do not go anywhere as the next game is set to commence shortly. It will be played between Colombo Stars and Galle Gladiators. This game will begin at 7.30 pm local (2 pm GMT). Switch tabs and enjoy the action! Cheers!
Dasun Shanaka, the skipper of Dambulla Giants, says that in the middle overs, they should have capitalized but the way their bowlers bowled was brilliant. Mentions that spin will play a major role in the tournament. Tells that the way the boys started the game was brilliant.
Angelo Perera, the skipper of Kandy Warriors, says that the first 5 overs with the ball cost them the game. Adds that they pulled things back really well with the ball in the end.
Philip Salt is the Player of the Match. He says that he is just trying to play positive cricket. Mentions that there was a bit of grass on the wicket. Tells that the ball doesn't stay new for long.
Stay tuned for the Presentation...
Earlier in the day, Dambulla Giants posted a huge total of 190 runs on the board after opting to bat first, courtesy of some clean ball-striking from Philip Salt and he was well backed up by Giants' bowlers who stuck to their task and made things hard for Kandy Warriors out in the middle. As a result, Warriors fell short by 20 runs in the end.
Dambulla Giants would be extremely pleased with their bowling and fielding effort. Nuwan Pradeep and Ramesh Mendis were the standout performers for the Giants with the ball who picked up 3 wickets each and put the Warriors' batters on the back foot. Imran Tahir also got a wicket and was economical as ever. All in all, it was a good bowling and fielding performance from Dambulla Giants which saw them starting off on a winning note.
Kandy Warriors started the chase well as Kennar Lewis looked in good nick. However, once Lewis got out the asking rate kept creeping up and it was Angelo Perera and Kamindu Mendis who tried to steady the ship but they they never got going. The Warriors kept losing wickets and found themselves 88/6. It was Rovman Powell who walked in at number 6 and smashed the ball to all parts of the ground and scored 42 off just 21 balls before perishing. Once he got out, it was just a matter of time before the Warriors were handed a defeat.
This has been a dominant performance from Dambulla Giants as they start off their campaign on a winning note. Kandy Warriors never really looked in control and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Dasun Shanaka To Ishan Jayaratne OUT!
OUT! TAKEN! Spectacular catch in the deep! Dasun Shanaka bangs in short, on middle. Ishan Jayaratne looks to pull but didn't quiet get hold onto it. The ball goes off the top edge towards deep mid-wicket. Nuwanidu Fernando comes running from the deep, keeps his eyes on the ball and flies like superman to grab the catch. An absolute scorcher from him. This is more of his wicket than the bowler's. Stunning effort from him and Dambulla Giants inching closer to the victory.
Dasun Shanaka to bowl the last over of the innings.
