This marks a landmark moment for Bangladesh cricket as their bowlers masterfully defended a modest total, demonstrating remarkable skill and determination. Meanwhile, Indian cricket suffered a devastating Sunday with a triple blow. The women's team fell to Australia, followed by a loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy's second Test against Australia, and finally, this crushing defeat of the Under-19 team against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup Final. And with this, curtains fall on this edition of the ACC Men's Under-19 Asia Cup, 2024. Bangladesh has masterfully defended the title and became the second most successful team in this age category to do so. As we bid adieu from this tournament and the land of Emirates, we have a streak of cricketing action lined up for you from across the globe. You can simply switch the tabs and follow other games. But from here, it is a goodbye!
Azizul Hakim Tamim, the Bangladeshi skipper receives the trophy and he gracefully accepts it. He now walks towards his boys and hands over the trophy to his teammates as they pose for the photographs in front of the champions board. Beautiful emotions all around the camp as Bangladesh retain the trophy rightfully.
The captain of Bangladesh Under-19, Azizul Hakim Tamim walks up to have a chat. Azizul says that they are really happy to win the game. Adds that he was confident about their bowlers and that they would defend low scores as well. He says that he was just finding the gaps and it worked well for them. Ends by thanking the crowd for their support.
It is now time for the players of Bangladesh Under-19 to collect their winner medallions as they line up on the podium to receive the medallions from one of the dignitaries. The captain of Bangladesh Under-19, Azizul Hakim Tamim receives the winner's cheque and proudly poses for a photograph.
Mohammad Amaan, the captain of India Under-19 is up for a quick chat now. He says that in the last two games, the opening was good but it didn't go well today. Adds that they had the depth in their batting but they couldn't capitalize on the partnerships. He says that they took advantage of bowling first and ends by saying that they played as a team but the result just didn't go their way.
Now, the Indian team is called upon the podium to receive their runner-up medallions. Captain Mohammad Amaan now receives the runner-up cheque from one of the dignitaries.
Iqbal Hasan Emon receives the PLAYER OF THE MATCH award for his exceptional bowling display. He also receives the PLAYER OF THE SERIES award for snagging 13 wickets throughout the tournament.
THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY...
Earlier in the game, Bangladesh Under-19 too, had a scratchy start as they lost both openers early into the innings. The scoring rate remained sedate for the most part. But then came a resilient stand between Mohammad Shihab James and Mohammad Rizan Hossan which kind of bailed Bangladesh out of deep trouble. The two formed a solid stand of 62 runs and both scored in their 40s. However, they lost two quick wickets in the middle which brought the Indians on the front foot. With the score still under par territory, Bangladesh found a savior in Farid Hasan Faysal who scored a handy 39. But still, couldn't play all 50 overs. For India, Yudhajit Guha, Chetan Sharma, and Hardik Raj chipped in with a couple of wickets each while the rest picked one apiece to restrict Bangladesh to 198.
Nobody from the Indian batting unit could extend their scores into a substantial one when all they needed was a couple of partnerships to help them cross the winning line. For Bangladesh, they ticked the boxes right and did the basic things correctly. Kept on applying pressure on the opposition with a brilliant bowling display coupled with an electric fielding show as well.
Captain Mohammed Amaan could only watch helplessly from his end as Bangladesh's Iqbal Hasan Emon and Al Fahad tore through India's middle order. Though the target remained within reach, Amaan's dismissal after his composed knock effectively sealed India's fate. However, Hardik Raj still kept the fight on with a few boundaries, but with not much batting on the other end, India succumbed to the pressure and never found a way to bail out of the trouble, eventually falling short of 59 runs.
India just couldn't get going and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. After the dismissal of their top three batters, the team found themselves in desperate need of stability. Signs of tension emerged in the middle, with scattered running between wickets nearly leading to additional dismissals. Karthikeya KP and captain Amaan did try to weather the storm and milked singles for a bit, but as the patience triggered, the former couldn't resist playing a loose stroke. And as they say, one brings two, at this point, India were in all sorts of trouble with five men down with still a mountain to climb.
The Indian innings got off to a rocky start, with openers Aryan Mhatre and Vaibhav Suryavanshi failing to make an impact this time around. Both batters fell early to poor shot selection, struggling against disciplined bowling that kept scoring opportunities limited. By the end of the powerplay, India found themselves crawling at 39 for 2, versus Bangladesh's 41/1 at the same stage, courtesy of Maruf Mridha and Al Fahad keeping things on a tight leash.
The entire Bangladeshi coaching staff now joins the team and they pose for some commemorative photographs. Some might have thought that Bangladesh looked a bit undercooked with the bat, but when they came out to bowl, they just executed a spirited comeback. With this win, Bangladesh also maintains its record against India Under-19 with two consecutive victories in the Asia Cup.
BANGLADESH UNDER-19 DEFENDS THE TITLE IN STYLE! The Dubai International Cricket Stadium erupts with all the Bangladeshi fans rising up in unison and cheering for their boys in green. A clinical performance by the bowlers and a day these youngsters will remember for a lifetime. All the Bangladesh players converge and celebrate. The mood is jovial and they are over the moon with all smiles. Now, they take a lap of honor, thanking all the fans who turned up to support them in the stadium and the ones glued to their screens back home. And exactly opposite emotions in the Indian camp. They had bowled their hearts out and did limit Bangladesh to a below-par total, but the batters couldn't hold onto the pressure.

Azizul Hakim Tamim To Hardik Raj OUT!
OUT! LBW! Another one bites the dust and Bangladesh Under-19 are just inches away from sealing a victory and making it back-to-back trophies! Tamim bowls this full and on middle and off, angling it into the batter. Hardik Raj lunges to block but plays down the wrong line. The ball sneaks past the inside edge and raps him on the front pad. After a prolonged appeal from the bowler, the umpire finally raises his finger.
