Bangladesh win and keep themselves in the hunt. A good showing with the ball in the death, along with some fine batting from the middle order puts them in a virtual semi-final when they face Pakistan in a few days. Also, another Afghanistan game, another thrilling contest. It's been a roller coaster ride for them in this tournament, but there's still one more game to go. This team has taken great strides forward in its progress, so they'd like to cap it off with a win. They face India on Tuesday in Dubai at 1530 local (1130 GMT). Do join in for it. Till then, cheers!
Man of the Match, Mahmudullah says that the weather was hot and he was feeling a bit tired while he was batting. Adds further that they did well at the end to keep their nerves and eventually win it. Credits Mustafizur for how he finished the last over even after his cramps and calf strain. Reckons that Afghanistan have some good hitters but feels his bowlers did a really good job to win it for them today. States that he always feels happy to contribute for his team. Admits that Imrul Kayes and himself had a good partnership in the first innings when Bangladesh were in a spot of bother. Ends by saying that they will need to bring their A game out on the 26th if they are to have any chance of beating Pakistan as they are playing some good cricket.
Mashrafe Mortaza, the Bangladesh captain says, end of the match must was like a magician. We could no9t score 8-9 runs, but this time we defended. Shakib bowled really well in the death, Must focus was to look for wicket and stop run flow. Mahmudullah and Kayes played really well on this slow and sticky pitch not the best for batting, they played well to get that total. Must was running a bit slow and bowled cutter as he was not able to bowl the yorkers because of his calf strain,. This win will instill confidence and we hope to take it ahead in the tournament.
Afghanistan captain, Asghar Afghan thanks the almighty first. He then congratulates the Bangladesh team and states that they played well. Admits that to make 8 runs off the last 6 balls was not difficult. Feels that Gulbadin Naib was their main batsman who could have taken them across the line in the last over but sadly he failed to do so. Also feels that Mustafizur Rahman is a very good bowler with lots of variations and he bowled really well in the death overs. Mentions that during the middle overs they were progressing well and on course while executing their plans. Adds further that they had enough wickets at the end and that was the initial plan. Reckons that if their batsmen had taken singles and doubles instead of looking for the big shots in the final over, they would have got over the line. Also says that chasing a total of 250 is not very difficult on this ground and feels they should have got the job done. Ends by saying that they have learnt a lot by playing against full member teams.
Bangladesh were good with the ball for the most part. Started well, were frugal but just lost it a bit towards the end when Nabi decided to take the attack to them, but a phenomenal last over from Mustafizur ensured they got maximum points from this game. Mortaza was good in his second spell when he came back on, the rest were decent, but Mustafizur was sensational. A lot of the credit for the win goes to him. Earlier in the day, Bangladesh got close to 250 on the back of a century stand between Mahmudullah and Kayes, with both of them scoring a fifty each. It eventually proved enough for their opposition.
Chasing a target of 250, Afghanistan didn't get off to the best of starts losing two early wickets. Post that, the Bangla bowlers kept applying the pressure and kept the run flow very much in check. There were two good partnerships in the middle, one between Shahzad and Shahidi and the next between Shahidi and Asghar, but the former went at a slow rate and that hampered things quite a lot. Still, despite that, some big hitting towards the end from Nabi saw his team come close, but it wasn't to be.
Death bowling at its best. The left-armer Rahman shows once again why he's one of the best in the business. Afghanistan came close, but just couldn't get themselves over the line. For the neutral, it made for some excellent viewing. One to remember for a good while.

Mustafizur Rahman To Samiullah Shenwari
And that's it! BANGLADESH WIN BY 3 RUNS! What an over from Mustafizur Rahman. Still so young but has so much experience already and he's shown that here tonight. Superb stuff. He angles it across the batsman on a back of a length, Shenwari goes for the big pull. Misses the ball and the bat slips out of his hands as well.

Mustafizur Rahman To Gulbadin Naib
Another leg bye. 4 needed to win now for Afghanistan. If the heat in Abu Dhabi wasn't enough, this game just brought a whole lot more with it. The left-armer lands a length ball on the stumps, Naib moves across his sticks to scoop it over the keeper's head but it goes off his pads towards short fine leg and the batsmen cross over.

Beaten! Length delivery hurled across, Naib swings and misses.

Mustafizur Rahman To Samiullah Shenwari
Everyone is appealing for a catch but the umpire signals a leg bye. Interesting. Length ball around leg, the cutter, Shenwari looks to clear short fine leg but apparently misses and the ball lobs towards the same position. Mortaza takes the catch and all appeal, but in vain. A leg bye is taken.
Gulbadin Naib will be the new man in.

Mustafizur Rahman To Rashid Khan OUT!
OUT! Rashid doesn't last very long! Mustafizur cramps Khan for room seeing him back away. Bangs it short and the batsman looks to swing across the line. Gets it off the top half and it pops back to the bowler who gobbles it up. Still 6 in 4. Still some batting left for Afghanistan. The game, still very much in the balance.

Mustafizur Rahman To Rashid Khan
Superbly placed. Length delivery around off, Khan backs away and slaps it past the diving extra cover fielder. That instantly means an extra run and the batsmen take two as the sweeper mops it up.

High full toss on the stumps and Rashid misses out. He slaps it over covers and the batsmen just take the one. Khan wanted the second but his partner refused. 8 off the final over to win for Afghanistan.

Shakib Al Hasan To Mohammad Nabi OUT!
OUT! Gone next ball! What's going to happen here? Nobody can tell. Can go either way. Nabi takes it on the full and looks to clear wide long off. Doesn't get enough elevation on it and it flies towards Shanto there. He moves to his left and takes a good diving catch. Nabi departs, but he's brought his team in a good position.

Shakib Al Hasan To Mohammad Nabi
SIX! Take a bow, Mohammad Nabi. Doing it for his team and taking it home. Beautiful. Shakib floats it up and Nabi gives the charge. Connects sweetly and sends it sailing deep into the long off stands for a biggie.

Shakib Al Hasan To Samiullah Shenwari
Good running. Samiullah works it down in front of mid-wicket and within no time calls for the run. Both batsmen take off and complete the run.
Shakib Al Hasan will bowl the penultimate over.

Another appeal, but shut down for the same reason as the previous delivery. It pitched outside leg. It lands and raps Shenwari on the pads. Correct call by the umpire.

Mustafizur Rahman To Samiullah Shenwari
Not out! Shenwari survives. Mustafizur bowls the cutter on a fullish length and it raps Samiullah on the pads who for some strange reason gets low to sweep it away. Big appeal and the umpire doesn't bother with it as the batsmen cross over. Bangladesh contemplate and eventually take the DRS. Replays show that the ball pitched outside the line of leg stump. Also, there was a slight glove on it. So a run taken as well.
Review taken. It's for an lbw decision against Samiullah Shenwari. The ball seemingly has pitched outside leg. Over to the TV umpire now.

Mustafizur Rahman To Samiullah Shenwari
FOUR! Oh that's poor positioning. Should have been right at the rope. He was too far in and hence missed the catch. Behind and that's an easy catch. Shenwari pulls this short ball on off and sends it flying towards deep mid-wicket. Shanto is the man there and he leaps ahead, only to miss it. It goes over him and falls just inside the rope before going across.
