Well then, this wraps up a Saturday evening that was filled with entertainment aplenty. Up next in the Indian Premier League is another treat of a double header coming your way. First up, Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium will witness the battle of the royals, as Rajasthan Royals host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, with the first ball scheduled to be bowled at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). That game will be followed by Delhi Capitals hosting the Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) on Sunday, 13th April. But do make sure that you all join us an hour earlier for all the exciting pre-match build-up. Till then, take care and cheers!
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium transformed into a batter's paradise on the night, bearing witness to an extraordinary 492 runs scored across both innings. The IPL has shattered the ceiling of what's possible in run chases. Year after year, this tournament pushes batting boundaries further, producing jaw-dropping pursuits that redefine cricket's mathematical limits. With this win, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have resurrected their campaign, as there will surely be a feel-good factor after their shaky start. They move up to the eighth position, while with this loss, the Punjab Kings stay sixth on the table.
Abhishek Sharma is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his match-winning century. He says that it’s never easy for any player to suddenly click after going through a lean patch. Gives a special mention to the captain and the management for creating a positive atmosphere in the camp. Mentions that the entire team was eagerly waiting for his parents to arrive and jokingly says that his parents seem to be lucky for the team as a whole. States that they knew that they just had to break through once, especially after going through a tough phase of losing four games. Adds that throughout that period, the mood in the camp remained upbeat, and the belief never wavered. Abhishek acknowledges the guidance of Yuvraj Singh and Suryakumar Yadav, who have both been in regular touch with him.
The captain of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pat Cummins, mentions it was a wicket where they didn't have too many options with the ball. Says that any over going for under 10 feels like a big win, especially on such high-scoring surfaces. Reflecting on the chase, he calls it phenomenal and admits that the team feels confident even when chasing targets around 250, which speaks volumes about their belief. He states that he's a big fan of Abhishek Sharma and the way he’s been striking the ball. Cummins also mentions that they’ve been really happy with how things have gone in training, and it was only a matter of executing it on the field. Lastly, he thanks the home crowd for their support.
It's time for the Presentation ceremony...
Travis Head of the Sunrisers Hyderabad is up for a chat now. He says it feels nice to get on the winner's list. He says they needed it in the competition as they are almost halfway through. He says he discussed with Abhishek about giving themselves some chance, taking some balls, staying a touch quiet at the early stages and then teeing off. Mentions that they picked their targets and got into a good rhythm. Feels it was all about doing the things that have worked for the team last season, encouraging each other, keeping a clear mind, and all those things helped them. Adds that there have been some big scores on this particular wicket where teams have crossed 200 many times and because of that, they knew they were always in the game. He says it's fun to get into a friendly banter with someone like Glenn Maxwell, and it wasn’t anything serious, he concludes.
The captain of the Punjab Kings, Shreyas Iyer, shares that it was a fantastic total to post, especially with the ball holding up in the first innings. He mentions that when he and Nehal Wadhera were batting, a total of 230 felt like a winning score. However, he reckons that the dew made things significantly easier for the chasing side. That said, he gives credit where it’s due, acknowledging the outstanding effort from the SRH batters. Speaking about the Sunrisers' chase, he says Abhishek Sharma played an exceptional inning, even though he had a slice of luck with a couple of chances going down. Admits the bowling unit didn’t quite meet expectations and feels that the over-rotation and execution could have been sharper. States that losing Lockie Ferguson was a big blow to their plans, but understands that niggles are part and parcel of a fast bowler’s life. He says that there were opportunities to shift the momentum, particularly with those two missed chances, but the team couldn’t capitalize. Finally, he reflects on the match by saying there are decent learnings to take forward and that it’s now back to the drawing board as they look to bounce back stronger.
Earlier in the game, Punjab Kings got off to a rollicking start with the bat, as Prabhsimran Singh and young Priyansh Arya bossed up the Powerplay, on a pitch that was deemed as a batter's safe haven. Shreyas Iyer joined the blitz bandwagon, smashing every bowler, all around the park and notching a superb 82, with a decent contribution from Nehal Wadhera. However, they slowed down a bit in the middle with Harshal Patel taking a spectacular 4-fer. But, PBKS bounced back marvelously as Marcus Stoinis provided that much-needed propulsion in the last over, smashing four sixes and helping PBKS to post 245, which in the end, proved to be not enough to defend.
Their relentless assault left Punjab's bowlers looking utterly helpless as the run chase transformed into an exhibition of raw power hitting. From there, SRH held the bull by its horns. Abhishek Sharma did prove that he is a human, as he got out eventually, but not before putting the game well within reach of SRH. Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan then provided the finishing touches, completing the chase with 9 balls to spare.
Abhishek Sharma and Head showed no mercy, pulverizing even well-executed deliveries as they shifted into another gear with the bat. They manipulated the field at will, leaving PBKS completely defensive and scrambling for answers. With breathtaking fluency, Abhishek stormed to a spectacular century, shattering multiple records along the way, including establishing himself as the batter with the highest individual score for Sunrisers Hyderabad, leapfrogging David Warner, and also smashing the highest score individually by any Indian batter in the history of the IPL, overtaking KL Rahul's unbeaten 132, while also overtaking Quinton de Kock and becoming the third highest individual scorer in the IPL's history.
Abhishek raced to a blistering half-century off just 19 deliveries, firmly establishing Hyderabad's momentum in their ambitious chase of 246. Punjab's predicament worsened considerably when their ace fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was forced to leave the field with a quad injury, severely undermining their bowling attack at the most critical juncture of the contest. Head and Abhishek continued to go great guns. It was all about the air and the distance as SRH chewed up more than half of the runs inside the first ten overs itself.
The SRH opening duo unleashed absolute mayhem from ball one, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head launching a ferocious assault on the PBKS bowling attack. Fortune favoured the bold, as Abhishek survived multiple chances at the start. First, Marcus Stoinis could not hang on to a tough chance in the second over, off Marco Jansen, when on 4 and then, the southpaw got a crucial letoff when Yash Thakur's overstepped delivery negated what was a simple catch for Shashank Singh. This was in the 4th over, with Sharma on 28. Making the most of his new lives, Abhishek continued to punish the Punjab bowlers mercilessly, as SRH rocketed to 83 without loss at the end of the Powerplay, nearly matching Punjab's 89/1 at the same stage.
IMPOSSIBLE has just been reduced to a mere word in cricket. We have just witnessed the run chase of the highest quality from Sunrisers Hyderabad, as they register the second-highest successful run chase in the history of the Indian Premier League. Sunrisers Hyderabad have just redefined what's possible in T20 cricket with a chase that bordered on the supernatural. What unfolded tonight was batting artistry of the highest caliber. One can only sympathize with Punjab Kings' shell-shocked bowling unit. Cricket, in all its unforgiving glory, revealed its most merciless face as even a towering total of 245 proved woefully inadequate against this rampaging SRH batting unit.

OUT! IN THE AIR AND GONE! A scintillating innings from Abhishek Sharma comes to an end, and the crowd rises as one to applaud the young man. Arshdeep gives him a hug in appreciation. Angling in, full in length, on middle, Abhishek Sharma goes deep in the crease and tries to whip it away. FOUR! Streaky! Arshdeep nails the wide yorker on off, Sharma walks across and looks to use the pace by opening the bat's face. Gets an inside edge that sneaks past the stumps and beats the keeper to his right for a boundary. The 50-run stand also comes up between Abhishek and Klaasen.
Strategic Break. This game is well within the arrest of the Sunrisers Hyderabad as they need just 28 off the last four overs remaining. Abhishek Sharma continues on his rampage, dismantling any bowler coming his way, with marvellous conviction. He has toppled many records on the way, as he has now scored the highest individual score by any Indian batter in the history of the IPL, overtaking KL Rahul's unbeaten 132. He now stands fourth in the list of the top individual scores by any batter, in all of the IPL, just behind the likes of Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Quinton de Kock. He just needs 4 more runs to cross de Kock's individual score of 140. Back to the game. Here's Arshdeep Singh to bowl after the break.

DROPPED! Abhishek Sharma continues to ride his luck! Chahal drops it short, on middle, Abhishek goes on the back foot quickly for the pull. Gets a top edge that goes straight up towards the mid-wicket region. Chahal goes after it and puts a dive ahead but the ball hits him on the palm and pops out. Full marks for the effort though.
STRATEGIC BREAK. This has been a solid response from the openers of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the pursuit of chasing 246. This rollicking start has helped to form a perfect foundation. Of course, Abhishek Sharma has ridden on his luck, surviving a couple of times, but has made the most out of it, by smashing fifty of his own. It all depends on how long these two bat for the home side. A couple of quick wickets will peg SRH back, but PBKS need those wickets right now to stop this runaway train. Here's Yuzvendra Chahal into the attack now.
