Hobart Hurricanes beat Melbourne Renegades by 85 runs
That is it from the coverage of this encounter! Meanwhile, in Centurion, the first Test between South Africa and India is progressing at a rapid pace. Do switch tabs to catch the action from that game. The action in the Big Bash League continues as Perth Scorchers face Melbourne Stars on Thursday, 30th December, 2021. This game will begin at 1.45 pm IST (8.15 am GMT). But as you all know, the buildup will begin well in advance. So make sure you join us for the same. Cheers!
Ben McDermott wins the Man of the Match award for his fabulous hitting with the blade. He says, it was very tricky to face the new ball, it was a little bit about settling in the middle and fire in the end. Mentions, it was just his night. Adds, he hopes he can keep scoring runs for his side. Says, they have managed to put up a good score on the board and hopes they keep moving ahead with the momentum.
Stay tuned for the presentation.
Hobart Hurricanes' bowlers had plenty of runs to play with and they set the tone upfront. Thanks to Thomas Rogers who grabbed three wickets inside the Powerplay and put the opposition on the back foot. Just when the Renegades were trying to put on a partnership, Sandeep Lamichhane came into the attack and he took a couple of wickets. However, he ended up with a total of three wickets to his name. The Hurricanes were top-notch in the field as well which resulted in a couple of run outs. All in all, it was a really impressive performance from the Hurricanes and they have now won three games in a row.
Well, when a team chasing a total of over 200, loses three wickets inside the Powerplay, more often than not they end up on the losing side. This is exactly what happened with the Renegades as they lost wickets in quick succession in the Powerplay and were pushed on the back foot straightaway. Sam Harper was the only batter who swung his willow and kept them in the contest for a short while. Although, he kept losing partners and the Renegades never looked like chasing down the target. They completely lost their way in the middle.
This has been a dominating performance from the Hurricanes and they register yet another win. Melbourne Renegades continue their hunt for a win after having won just one game so far in this competition. Five back-to-back loses for Melbourne Renegades.

OUT! RUN OUT! Short of a length, outside off. Sam Harper throws the kitchen sink at it and slaps it towards deep point. He gets two runs but Jack Prestwidge pushes hard for the third run. Nathan Ellis collects the ball and throws it to Matthew Wade. He scores a direct-hit in one motion at the bowler's end to send Sam Harper packing. It was referred upstairs and the replay showed that Sam Harper was caught well short despite of his dive. He smashes his bat on the ground and walks back disappointed. A fighting knock comes to an end. James Pattinson walks out to bat.
Is that a run out? A direct hit at the bowler's end and Sam Harper is in trouble. The replays suggest that Harper is short of his crease and he walks back to the hut.

DRINKS! Melbourne Renegades have scored at a brisk rate and have already won the Bash Boost point but they don't have much wickets in hand to play with. Sam Harper is the only man who looks in control for the Renegades. If he takes the game deep, something can happen for their side. Hobart Hurricanes, on the flip side, have ran riots with the ball but have leaked runs in aplenty. They would look to keep the run-rate in check. Also, Melbourne Renegades have opted for the Power Surge now. That means only two fielders will be allowed to field outside the 30-yard circle for the next 2 overs.
