Coming up on Thursday - Just four games remain in the group stage, three of which are scheduled for 19th February. With all Super 8 spots sealed and the seedings pre-decided, there isn't much at stake for the qualified teams. However, for those heading home after the group stage, it's a chance to bow out on a high, especially for the Associate nations. First up on 19th February, the West Indies take on Italy in Kolkata. That will be followed by Sri Lanka facing Zimbabwe in Colombo, before Afghanistan round off the day’s action against Canada in Chennai. The first game of the day will commence at 5.30 am GMT. As always, you can join us early for all the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
Super 8 spots locked in - Coming into Wednesday's triple-header, there was just one spot left up for grabs, and Pakistan sealed it with a convincing win over Namibia in Colombo. Earlier in the day in Delhi, South Africa brushed aside the UAE to make it four wins from four, while India followed suit to complete a perfect run through the group stage.
We have ticked a lot of boxes - The Indian skipper, Suryakumar Yadav says that there was a bit of dew around, which made things slightly challenging for the bowlers, but overall, he is very happy with the performance. He acknowledges that they could find themselves in similar situations again, such as losing early wickets, but stresses that it is important for the batters to understand their responsibilities. Speaking about Dube, he recalls his knock in Vizag against New Zealand, mentioning that he wanted the Player of the Match award that day as well. Says that it was an amazing effort from Dube to help India reach 193. He feels the team has ticked a lot of boxes and adds that even in victory, there are lessons to be learned. On India’s bowling options, he describes it as a good headache to have, with plenty of variety at their disposal. He concludes by saying he is happy with how things are progressing, highlighting that contributions are coming from everyone.
We failed to make the key moments count - The captain of Netherlands, Scott Edwards says that they started really well. Adds that Aryan Dutt has been amazing for them, especially bowling in the Powerplay. Mentions that they know India has the firepower, and they were in the game as well, but a couple of missed chances and some misexcution costed them. Says that they had a few wickets in hand towards the end and took the bowlers down. Edwards shares that any time you come to India, you learn a lot. Smaller grounds, flatter wickets, and large crowds with so much hype. He believes that they did not play to their potential in this World Cup, did well in patches, but failed to make the key moments count.
Time for the presentation ceremony...
Dube's blitz powered India to 193 - Earlier, after opting to bat first, India suffered an early setback as Abhishek Sharma registered his third duck of the World Cup. Aryan Dutt was outstanding in the Powerplay, delivering three tight overs that set the tone. His effort was well supported through the middle phase, keeping India in check until Shivam Dube's arrival shifted the complexion of the game. Dube's blistering 31-ball 66, his T20I career-best score, powered India to 193, with the Dutch conceding 75 runs in the final five overs.
Dutch hung in, but never took charge - Jasprit Bumrah had the ball on a string, and Max O'Dowd looked all at sea against him. If Bumrah didn't get him, Varun Chakaravarthy did. There wasn't much separating the two sides at the end of 12 overs. In fact, the Dutch were slightly ahead at 94 for the loss of one less wicket, compared to India's 89 at the same stage. But the bigger question was - who could produce an innings like Shivam Dube’s? And could they do it against the likes of Bumrah, Varun and Arshdeep? The trio did not complete their full quota of overs, with Hardik Pandya and Dube given a longer run instead. While they were carted around, no one from the Netherlands truly took the attack to the opposition or seriously threatened to pull off the chase.
PLAYER OF THE MATCH - Shivam Dube wins the award for his impactful knock of 66 runs from 31 balls. He also chipped in with a couple of wickets but was on the expensive side. Dube says that the wicket was a bit tough, but he enjoyed batting on it. Adds that there was some pressure, the off-spinner bowled well with four dot balls, but he knew he could make it up later on. Dube shares that he loves hitting sixes, but sometimes the situation demands something different, and he has to look for boundaries as well. Tells that the skipper and coach have given him the freedom to bat wth a higher strike rate, but in this game, he had to take a bit of time. On his bowling, Dube says that he is working hard on it, and the results are showing as well. He feels that in a T20 game, you will get hit but also pick up wickets.
India make it four in four - Not a perfect performance, but one that gets the job done. For all the talk of them being strong favourites coming into the tournament, Suryakumar Yadav's side hasn't quite hit top gear yet, but they continue to find ways to win. They will know there is plenty to improve on in different aspects of their game. The Netherlands fought hard until the very end while chasing, but never quite threatened to get over the line. They bowled well for large parts, only to lose their way at the death. They head home with a solitary win, left to ponder what might have been.

DROPPED AGAIN! Tilak Varma is the culprit here, and this is not the first time in this World Cup for him. Shivam Dube pitches it up, outside off. Zach Lion-Cachet throws his hands at it but once again slices it off the outer half of the bat towards deep point. Tilak runs forward and dives to grab it but fails to hold onto it as he hits the ground. A couple more added to the total.

Shivam Dube To Zach Lion-Cachet
DROPPED! That could have been even worse for India! Shivam Dube bowls a slower one, full and outside off. Zach Lion-Cachet reaches out but only manages to slice it. It goes high in the air over extra cover. SKY runs backwards and calls for it, while Rinku Singh comes forward from long off. Suryakumar Yadav circles around it but fails to settle under it and the ball hits his chest and falls out. Good thing they avoided the collision here. Two taken.

Shivam Dube To Zach Lion-Cachet
A good wide yorker, outside off, Zach Lion-Cachet uses his feet and jams it out towards long on and comes back for the second run. 26 needed in 5 now.
The Netherlands are not going to go down without a fight. This is a big call from Suryakumar Yadav. Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah both have one over left, but he has gone with Shivam Dube. Perhaps the Indian skipper wants to see how Dube fares if a similar scenario presents itself in the Super 8 stage.

DRINKS! India get a key breakthrough right at the stroke of Drinks. Netherlands are right up there where India were at the same stage, but they will need someone to do a Shivam Dube. Bas de Leede looked good but he got out at the wrong time for them and now the responsibility shifts to the captain, Scott Edwards. India have experimented through Shivam Dube and Abhishek Sharma but they have been expensive despite Dube picking up that wicket. Now, they will look to bring back the frontline bowlers and close this game out. Here is Washington Sundar to bowl after the break.

With the fall of Max O'Dowd, it is time for a DRINKS BREAK. After a thorough interrogation by Jasprit Bumrah, another challenge awaits the Dutch in the form of Varun Chakaravarthy. The required run rate has already climbed to 11, and it will be crucial for the Netherlands to keep the scoreboard ticking. Even if the boundaries don't come regularly, rotating the strike with ones and twos and picking the right options to target will be key. Bas de Leede walks out at number 3.

Rapped on the pads! A prolonged appeal from Arshdeep Singh but it seems to be doing too much. Suryakumar Yadav has a word with Ishan Kishan and eventually decides against the review. That may have even pitched outside the line. Hooping back in, full and on leg. Levitt steps out to counter the swing and attempts the flick but is beaten on the inside edge and gets hit on the front pad. Well, the Ball Tracking later shows it was pitching down the leg side. Good thing India did not review it.
