India beat England by 106 runs
Well, with that we come to the end of our coverage of this second Test match between India and England where India finished the match on Day 4, winning it and levelling the series 1-1 as we move on to the third Test that starts on 15th of February at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT). The series hangs in balance after two amazing Test matches. How will the series turn out? Is Virat Kohli joining the team back? Will we see the return of KL Rahul or Ravindra Jadeja? All these answers lie in front as India versus England Test series moves to its next chapter. Till then, it's a goodbye.
Jasprit Bumrah is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliance with the ball. He starts by saying that he does not look at numbers. Further adds that as a youngster, he used to get excited looking at numbers but now it is an added baggage. Shares that as a youngster, yorker was the first delivery he learned. Mentions that he had seen the legends of the game in Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram and Zaheer Khan do it and he is happy to do it now. States that the team is through a transition so he feels that it is his responsibility to help the younger guys in any way he can. Says that he tries not to be a one-trick pony and assesses the situation and his options.
Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India talks about Jasprit Bumrah and calls him a champion player and what he has down for the team every time is not easy and he certainly looks better every passing day. When asked about Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit says that he is very humble and focused on his work and knows that every opportunity thrown at him is an important one and that's the way he bats. Rohit talks about the middle order to step up a bit more and convert the starts into big runs but at the end of the day, if the game is won, it's all good. The series till now has been really challenging and England has played really good cricket in the series. Ends by saying that they have a week to regroup and come back for the next Test match.
The skipper of England, Ben Stokes says that they had full belief coming into this last innings to chase it down. Feels that they get the best out of themselves in games with scoreboard pressure. Feels that it was another great game to be a part of. States that everyone in the dressing room is a quality player. Adds that they are good enough to go out there and decide their approach to getting the runs. Says that he absolutely loved captaining the inexperienced spinners. Reckons that the spinners showed a lot of maturity beyond the years. On James Anderson's efforts with the ball, he replies that he was amazing in this Test as was Jasprit Bumrah.
... THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY ...
India's double centurion of this Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal is in for a chat. He says that it is a wonderful feeling. Adds that it is one of the best moments to win a game for your country. Mentions that they were just focusing on their processes and felt that it went well. Shares that there were a few cracks and there was some seam movement as well. States that it was a bit hard to play in the fourth innings. On the difference in his approach while playing red-ball and white-ball cricket, he replies that it in Test cricket, he tries to play till the end while in white-ball games, he goes for it from the first ball and has an intent to score. Feels that the way Bumrah bowled was incredible. Ends by saying that his intent in the second innings was the same and he wanted to play out the new ball and build the innings.
Earlier in the game, after opting to bat first, India's openers started cautiously. Rohit Sharma fell early, but Jaiswal found his rhythm, supported briefly by Shubman Gill, who departed just before Lunch. Jaiswal reached his second Test century post-Lunch, while Iyer and Patidar failed to capitalize on their starts. Axar Patel, promoted up the order, showed promise but fell for 27. KS Bharat looked promising until his dismissal. Jaiswal remained composed, ending Day 1 unbeaten on 179 alongside Ashwin. Despite losing the toss, James Anderson and the spin quartet maintained discipline, preventing India from dominating on Day 1. Anderson set the tone early with precise bowling, claiming Gill's wicket before Lunch. Rehan Ahmed and debutant Shoaib Bashir applied pressure, with Hartley taking the only wicket in the second session. Rehan Ahmed dismissed Patidar post-tea, while Bashir removed Axar Patel, and Rehan got Bharat late in the day as India finished Day 1 at 336 for the loss of six wickets.
Day 2 commenced with India facing the daunting task of navigating through the tricky phase with the second new ball, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravichandran Ashwin standing firm at the crease. England quickly seized the initiative in the first session, swiftly wrapping up India's tail, but they could not stop Jaiswal from reaching his maiden double hundred in Test cricket. In pursuit of India's first-inning total of 396 runs, England's opening duo of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett showcased remarkable prowess, with Crawley particularly shining with an explosive knock of 76 runs off just 78 balls. Despite glimpses of promise from some English batters, they struggled to capitalise, falling victim to the relentless bowling of Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah's fiery spell saw him claim six crucial wickets, including his 150th Test scalp for India, effectively dismantling the core of England's batting lineup. Additionally, Kuldeep Yadav made significant contributions with three vital wickets, forming a formidable bowling partnership with Bumrah that left the English batters struggling. Ultimately, India's bowling dominance resulted in England being bowled out within just two sessions to take a lead of 143 runs.
On Day 3, India began with a significant 171-run lead, laying the groundwork for what promised to be a crucial day of play. Despite the early dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the partnership between Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer steadied India's innings. Gill's resilient century, complemented by Axar Patel's aggressive batting, propelled India's lead to a commanding 398 runs.  England's spinners struggled to capitalize on the early wickets from James Anderson, with Tom Hartley and Rehan Ahmed eventually making crucial breakthroughs. Ben Stokes' strategic captaincy led to further wickets, restricting India to 255 in their second innings. In pursuit of a challenging target of 399 runs, England's openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett displayed resilience, keeping England's hopes alive despite Duckett's eventual departure. Crawley, along with Rehan Ahmed, ensured England ended the day with just one wicket down, setting the stage for what promised to be an intriguing final day of the Test match.
As the sun rose on Day 4 of the Test match between India and England, anticipation filled the air as both teams geared up for a pivotal day of cricket with India needing remaining while England were in pursuit of 332 runs. Sessions may not define a Test match, but the intensity of the first session hinted at the direction in which the match was headed, with India making significant strides by claiming five English wickets. England's innings began steadily, with Zak Crawley and Rehan Ahmed providing a solid start at the crease. However, their promising partnership was disrupted when Axar Patel struck early to dismiss Rehan Ahmed, giving India the breakthrough they needed. Crawley, resilient as ever, continued to anchor the innings with a superb knock, showcasing his batting prowess once again scoring 73 runs before he was sent by Kuldeep Yadav, credits to a brilliant review taken by India. Just when England seemed to be stabilizing, India struck crucial blows in the final moments before lunch. Ravichandran Ashwin, on the brink of a historic milestone with one wicket away from 500 Test wickets, dismantled the English middle order by removing Ollie Pope and Joe Root, exerting his dominance with the ball. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah's relentless pace and accuracy proved too much for Jonny Bairstow, who fell victim to an intriguing review decision. The lunch break saw England reeling at 194/6 after 42.4 overs, with their hopes pinned on the experienced Ben Stokes to guide them through troubled waters. However, India's impeccable fielding came to the fore as Shreyas Iyer executed a brilliant run-out to dismiss Stokes early in the post-lunch session, dealing a significant blow to England's aspirations of mounting a comeback. It was the partnership of Ben Foalks and Tom Hartley to be the highest in the innings. The duo added 55 runs before Ben Foalks fell to the brilliance of Jaspreet Bumrah. It did not take India time to pick up the remaining tail to secure a victory by 106 runs.
That's it, that's the end and India won the Second Test by 106 runs on Day 4 of the Test Match. After getting a massive first-innings lead, India never looked back and kept on piling up the score. England needed 399 runs in their second innings and have been bowled out for 292 by the mighty Indian bowling attack to level the series 1-1 after the Second Test. The daily summary of the Test match is coming up, stay tuned.

Rohit Sharma takes a blinder! England review! Ravichandran Ashwin comes from around the wicket angle and tosses the ball up on the middle stump line. Tom Hartley is already committed to playing the reverse sweep and swings his bat hard. The ball hits his arm and goes up in the air. Rohit Sharma runs across to his right from first slip and makes a full-length dive to grab the ball just in time and completes the catch. The umpire raises his finger and Tom Hartley takes a review! The UltraEdge shows no contact with the bat as the ball hits the forearm of Tom Hartley. Hartley is safe on the LBW count as well since it is umpire's call on impact and wickets. The decision is overturned to Not Out!
Is that out? Rohit Sharma has taken it and the Indians are celebrating. Tom Hartley has gone for the review though. The replays show that It has come off the forearm and the third umpire wants to check for LBW. It has come as umpire's call and the umpire had ruled it OUT for caught behind and not for LBW. There seems to be a lot of confusion between the Indian players and the umpires and the third umpire rechecks the UltraEdge to assess whether it has come off the back of the bat but it has come off the bat either. Tom Hartley survives!

Ravichandran Ashwin To Ben Foakes OUT!
OUT! RUN OUT! Shreyas Iyer, you beauty! That should be the game for India! A body blow to England as their skipper pays the price for being lazy! Ashwin floats it up from around the wicket and bowls it full, on middle and leg, Ben Foakes presses forward to defend it away. Gets an inside edge onto the pads and it rolls to square leg. A yes-no situation for the single and Foakes is a bit late to get off the blocks. It is still an easy run but Ben Stokes is very casual in his approach and jogs most part of that run. He realises that the throw is coming at his end but the horse has bolted already. Shreyas Iyer swoops in and picks the ball up with hi right hand. He fires in a throw at the batting end and hits despite having only one stump to aim at. The replays show that Stokes had no part of his bat inside the crease when the throw hits the stumps. The Indian players gather around Shreyas Iyer and the crowd is as delighted as anything. India three wickets away now from making it 1-1!
Is that OUT? Shreyas Iyer with sheer brilliance in the field!

India need 4 wickets to win the Test match and the players led by Rohit Sharma walk out to the field. Jasprit Bumrah comes up to finish his 2 balls after LUNCH for India. Let's Play!
... DAY 4, SECOND SESSION ...
LUNCH! Joyful India take Lunch on DAY 4! Sessions do not define the Test match they say, but this session has gotten us very close to deciding where the match is going as India took 5 English wickets in the session. England right now are 194/6 after 42.4 overs and have been pushed on the backfoot in the second hour of the morning. Zak Crawley and Rehan Ahmed started well before Axar Patel sent back Rehan Ahmed. Zak Crawley went on to play a superb knock once again scorning 73 runs and keeping the innings together, but he was sent back too, thanks to a brilliant review by India in the final minutes before LUNCH. The England middle order was destroyed by Ravichandran Ashwin who now stands one wicket away from 500 TEST Wickets, getting rid of 3 England batters. Jasprit Bumrah was brilliant too in the first spell but came back even better in the second, dismissing Jonny Bairstow, another interesting review, which led us to an early LUNCH. England's last hope hangs on Ben Stokes who is now at the crease and has not faced a single ball, along with Ben Foakes, who hasn't done much with the bat yet, in the series. Ben Stokes has done this before for England and will be looking to back himself in pulling another howitzer. Right now, England needs 205 runs and India needs 4 wickets to win the Test match as players take LUNCH. Is the Test ending with another Ben Stokes classic? Or will the Indian bowlers finish things off in this session? Let's find out when we come back after Lunch.

Jasprit Bumrah To Jonny Bairstow OUT!
OUT! Given LBW! The finger goes up and India celebrate! Jonny Bairstow has a word with Ben Stokes at the other end and takes the review! It nipped back in sharply to trap Baristow in front and he looks gone for all money! Nothing on UltraEdge and it is clipping the leg stump on Ball Tracking. It is umpire's call and the on-field decision will stand. India go bang, bang just before Lunch and they find themselves in a commanding position! Bumrah stays from over the wicket and bowls it on a good length, tailing back in, on middle and leg, Jonny Bairstow stays leg side of the ball and opens himself up to access the off side. He fails to account for the inward movement and the ball jags back in to hit him above the knee roll on the back leg and it was enough to send him on his way. That will be LUNCH on DAY 4!

Kuldeep Yadav To Zak Crawley OUT!
OUT! LBW! Excellent review and what a time to get it right! India get the wicket they desperately wanted and it is a massive blow to England just before Lunch! Kuldeep stays over the wicket and bowls it short and around the leg-stump line, Zak Crawley goes on the back foot to clip it away but misses to get pinged on the front pad. It looks to be turning sharply down leg and the umpire does not raise his finger. After a contemplation, Rohit Sharma goes for the review with not much left on the timer. Nothing on UltraEdge and the Ball Tracking shows that the ball is not doing much and it is three reds on Ball Tracking. India are thrilled to bits and England have now lost half their side with still 205 runs away from victory!

All in readiness for action to commence on what promises to be a fascinating day of Test cricket! Just to reiterate, England require 332 more runs to secure a 2-0 lead in the series, while India are in pursuit of taking the remaining nine wickets to level the series. Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah are doing the talking in the Indian huddle before they disperse to take their respective field positions. Also, Shubman Gill will not be taking the field on Day 4, having hurt his right index finger on the third day. Zak Crawley and Rehan Ahmed are all set to resume their innings for England. Jasprit Bumrah is at the top of his mark and he is raring to go. Here we go...
PITCH REPORT - Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan are pitchside. Morgan says that there is a huge crack in that short of a good length area, and it is that exact crack from where Jasprit Bumrah got a couple of balls to keep low and shoot late on Day 3. Mentions that there is a spiderweb of cracks as we go towards the batter that will interest the Indian spinners. Karthik says that the cracks are fuller for the right-hander as well as the left-hander. Adds that the cracks are present right under the batter's eyes. Reckons that English batters might employ sweeps and reverse sweeps to tackle the Indian spinners.
On the other hand, England will fancy their chances of chasing this mountain of a target going into Day 4. On Day 3, it was all set up by James Anderson in the first half hour before the spinners came to the fore to not let the game drift away from them. Although the visitors lost Ben Duckett before the close of the play and there are doubts over Joe Root's participation due to a finger injury, England have ample firepower in the shed to get the remaining 332 runs. The first hour will be pivotal and could heavily influence the outcome of the Test. Who will blink first on Day 4? Join us for the ride to find out.
India's outing on Day 3 was headlined by Shubman Gill, but the rest of the batting unit's performances left a lot to be desired. At one stage in the game on the third day, they looked to be on course to take their lead over 400, but a bizarre passage of play after Tea saw their innings meander and eventually they were bowled out, setting England a target of 399. The hosts have the runs on the board but will still be wary of England's ability to pull off big chases. Given their efforts with the ball in the first inning, Rohit Sharma and his men start as slight favourites to win the Test from here, more so with the surface expected to deteriorate.
Hello and a warm welcome, folks, to our coverage of Day 4 of the second Test between India and England at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The 'Moving Day' lived up to expectations as the game ebbed and flowed to leave us with all four results possible with two days remaining in the Test. Considering England's 'Bazball' approach, it will not be a surprise if the Test does not go into the fifth day and we get the result on Day 4 itself.
... DAY 4, SESSION 1 ...
Right then, that's all from our coverage of Day 3. The Test is tantalisingly poised, with two days remaining in the game. Except for the odd ball keeping low, there are no visible gremlins in the surface, and it is likely to get slower as the game progresses. If it behaves so, it should suit England, but if it starts keeping up and down consistently, it will have Jasprit Bumrah and India's spinners licking their lips. Day 4 will commence at 9.30 am IST (4 am GMT), but our build-up will begin much sooner. Till then, take care and goodbye!
India's centurion of the second inning, Shubman Gill is in for a chat. He says that it was a good effort today but they could have gotten more runs on the board. He talks about the early LBW review going in his favour which gave him confidence. He mentions that the wicket is not an easy one to bat on as the odd ball is keeping and some of them turning sharp. He ends by saying that his father comes to watch most of his games and he actually feels good when he is there watching. When asked about the situation of the game he responds by saying that it still looks 70-30 in favour of India but England have the batting to chase this score down Ends by saying that he feels that the wicket is going to play a huge role in that tomorrow.
With the new ball only 5 overs old, England's hopes for a good start to the day rested on the shoulders of James Anderson. Anderson made the new ball talk and accounted for both Indian openers. However, the English spinners failed to build on those twin scalps. As they have done throughout this Test, just as India were beginning to breathe freely, Tom Hartley and Rehan Ahmed combined well to strike in quick succession. After India dominated the first hour after Lunch, Ben Stokes used his smarts to set unorthodox fields to be rewarded with the wickets of the two set batters. In the third session, England tightened the screws even more to bowl out India out for 255. In their pursuit of 399 runs, England were helped to another good start by their openers. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett mixed caution with aggression to put the Indian bowlers under pressure. However, Duckett could not see through till the close of play but Crawley along with Rehan Ahmed ensured that England went to Stumps with only one wicket down.
With a lead of 171 runs, India started Day 3 with their noses in front. It was a shaky start to 'Moving Day' for the hosts as Rohit Sharma departed, followed by the double centurion of the first innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shubman Gill and Shreyas joined hands to forge a solid recovery. Iyer squandered yet another start, while Rajat Patidar also couldn't make a significant impact. Gill carried on his merry way and looked determined for a three-figure score. He found an able alley in Axar Patel, and the duo dominated the first hour after Lunch with authoritative batting. Gill brought up his third Test ton before he got out, while Axar fell five runs short of a fifty. After Tea, India went into their shell, and the conservative approach came back to haunt them. The hosts could only muster 28 runs in that passage and had to be content with a 398-run lead. With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah was miserly from his end but Mukesh Kumar failed to support him and leaked boundaries. Kuldeep Yadav gave away runs as well before Ravichandran Ashwin gave India the breakthrough they needed before the close of play.
SESSION SUMMARY - 95 runs, 28.3 overs, and 5 wickets. End of another engrossing day of Test cricket! The 'Moving Day' lived up to the billing, where the game moved at a rapid pace. At Stumps on Day 3, England are left needing 332 more runs to win to go 2-0 up, whereas India are on the hunt for the remaining nine wickets to level the series. As for India, the day was highlighted by a stunning ton from Shubman Gill, his third in Test cricket. Although the hosts left a few runs out there with the bat, they still hold the edge in this Test. It was another one of those days for England where they did not allow the opposition to run away with the game and kept chipping away with wickets. In reply, England batted in the fashion they were expected to and scored runs at just under 5 runs per over.
