About Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad
The largest cricket ground in the Caribbean, the Queen’s Park Oval, home to the Queen’s Park Cricket Club, has been a Test venue since 1930, the year West Indies made their foray into Test cricket. With Trinidad boasting of avid followers of the game, Test matches at the Queen’s Park Oval have generally been well attended – the bands and Caribbean music adding to the flavour. Queen’s Park Oval also witnessed a record in 1976, when India chased down a record 406 in the last innings to win a Test match. One of the many Caribbean venues to host the ICC World Cup 2007, the Queen’s Park Oval underwent a facelift – but without tinkering too much with the heritage associated with the venue.
