About Nehru Stadium, Indore
All those who have followed cricket closely, especially in the subcontinent will remember this ground for the match between India and Sri Lanka in 1997 which lasted just three overs. The game was abandoned because the captains and the umpires felt that the ‘pitch was dangerous for the players to play on’. To calm the restless crowd, a 30 over exhibition match was played between the two sides. Following this, it was banned from hosting matches for a couple of years. It has a capacity of 25000 and finally came back to life when Sachin Tendulkar scored his 10000th run here against the Aussies in 2001. The first ODI played here was on December 1, 1983 between India and West Indies.
