Barabati Stadium, Cuttack

The Barabati stadium in Cuttack is an old ground that is located in the state of Odisha. It is active in hosting the national cricket team in limited overs internationals. The ground is under the control of Odisha Cricket Association and also hosts other sports, especially football in form of the Santosh Trophy. Barabati stadium had hosted games for MCC, West Indies and Australia in tour games before hosting its first international match. It has floodlights and hence, day-night ODIs and T20Is are a frequent scene there now. The most memorable moment on this ground was when Kapil Dev picked up his 300th wicket.

As of February 2019, the ground has hosted more than 20 international matches. It has been host to only 2 Test matches as either rain or the surface cause issues. Also, visiting sides do not like the accommodation and refrain from travelling to and fro from Bhubaneshwar which is an hour's drive away. The stadium has been a really good one for the Indian national cricket team in recent years as the Men in Blue have not lost there for more than 15 years in the 50-over format. One of the recent games in this 45, 000 capacity stadium was a thriller when more than 740 runs were scored in an ODI between India and England. The surface has always been conducive to batters. The ground has also been a part of the Indian T20 League when it played host to Kolkata and the Hyderabad franchises. With the advent of more hotels and better hospitality for the touring sides, hopefully, the stadium only goes in the upward direction from hereon.
