Former Indian cricket team fast bowler RP Singh fired a massive warning to wicket-keeper KS Bharat after disappointing performances in the first two Tests against England in the ongoing five-match series. In a recent interaction, Singh said that Bharat has a 'sword hanging over him' and with Rishabh Pant on the road to recovery from the injuries suffered in the road accident, his place in the playing XI can be under danger. Bharat failed to convert a couple of good starts in the first two Test matches and Singh pointed out that if any other keeper comes to the front, Bharat will have to sit on the bench.
“If we look at the team, there are probably 3 or 4 such players on the list who do not have a sword hanging over them, and there is no pressure of performance. It is on everyone else, and it is on KS Bharat too, because the line of players is very long. Rishabh Pant will come now, but he will undergo a fitness test, and then he will play some domestic cricket,” RP Singh told Cricbuzz.
“KS Bharat is currently a part of the Indian team; it should be understood that if any other keeper is seen by the selectors or the management that has potential, then it will not take a moment for KS Bharat to sit on the bench,” he added.
RP Singh was also not a fan of Bharat's wicket-keeping as he dropped a few catches against England and advised him on not concentrate on his competition but to work on his role in the side.
“The opportunities that Bharat is getting are very important. He has also caused fumbles and dropped catches and is not able to keep up with the pace of the ball while keeping. It is not that KS Bharat has not performed, but to replicate the same performance, he should plan a little and talk to the support staff a little. He should not think that if another player comes then he will be out. Your role in the team is very big, your role should be so much that you contribute to winning the matches for the team. KS Bharat is disappointing us."
