... DAY 4, Session 2 ...
-
!
Indian bowlers were made to work hard as there was no purchase from the pitch and weren't able to find an early breakthrough. After toiling for long, Deepti Sharma got rid of the well set Gardner and that provided the opening India Women were looking for. Once the new ball was available, India took full advantage of it as Meghna Singh scalped two wickets and then Pooja Vastrakar struck in her comeback spell. The visitors could have folded Australia's innings a while ago but Perry was dropped at least a couple of times. India Women will still be on the happier side heading to the break as they lead by 136 runs and with 71 overs left in play, the game could still be in anyone's court. It will be very interesting to see how things shape out to be. The historic pink-ball Test match is set up beautifully now and join us at 17.10 local (0710 am GMT) for the second session as India Women come out to bat again.

Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner continued from where they left off on Day 3. They kept the scoreboard ticking and made sure Indian bowlers had to work hard. The duo brought their individual fifties as well but Gardner soon got out. After that, whoever came, played a few balls but didn't manage to hold on and departed for single-digit scores while Perry alone showed her class and kept motoring along. She remains unbeaten on 68 as Meg Lanning have declared the innings.
