12.2 OUT! CAUGHT! A spinner takes the first wicket after a team elects to bowl first. Rahkeem Cornwall it is. Flighted delivery on middle, Zadran looks to sweep but the ball goes off something, taking the pad on its way, towards leg slip. Jason Holder over there dives to his left and takes it one-handed. They all appeal and immediately, umpire Paul Reiffel raises his finger! Hard to spot any inside edge there. No technology available either. 28/1
Javed Ahmadi | 39 | 81 | 5 | 1 | 48.14 |
c Shamarh Brooks b Jomel Warrican
28 OUT! CAUGHT! A wicket against the run of play! Flighted delivery on off, Ahmadi looks to loft it over long off but does not get the distance on it. It goes towards Shamarh Brooks who takes a good catch in the deep. Lack of awareness from Ahmadi. There was a fielder in the deep and he could have held himself. This partnership was looking good. 84/2
Ihsanullah | 24 | 46 | 3 | 0 | 52.17 |
c Shai Hope b Rahkeem Cornwall
30.4 OUT! CAUGHT! A wicket just at the stroke of the break! Ihsanullah will be distraught. He watched off the entire session, only to be dismissed at the close. Flighted delivery on off, Ihsanullah looks to defend off the front foot but gets an outside edge on this one. It goes towards first slip where Shai Hope takes a simple catch. The umpires make the batsman wait as they are checking for a possible no ball but replays show that it was just behind the line. THAT WILL BE LUNCH ON DAY 1! 90/3
Rahmat Shah | 4 | 11 | 1 | 0 | 36.36 |
c Jason Holder b Rahkeem Cornwall
32.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Another wicket for the pair of Cornwall and Holder. Rahkeem gets his third. He is making the ball spit venom. Cornwall tosses one up on middle and leg, Rahmat Shah looks to defend it to the leg side. The ball kisses the inner half of the bat and goes towards Holder at leg slip. Jason doesn't miss out on it as he takes a good catch going low. Afghanistan in all sorts of trouble with 4 down and under 100 on board. Possibly, their best player of spin departs cheaply. 91/4
Asghar Afghan | 4 | 16 | 0 | 0 | 25 |
c Shane Dowrich b Rahkeem Cornwall
37 OUT! CAUGHT! Cornwall gets his maiden five-fer. Tossed up delivery outside off, Afghan looks to cut but gets a faint nick on this one. It goes towards Shane Dowrich who takes a good sharp catch. Afghanistan are losing the plot here. 84/1 at one stage - now 98/6! 98/6
Nasir Jamal | 2 | 15 | 0 | 0 | 13.33 |
c Shai Hope b Rahkeem Cornwall
35 OUT! CAUGHT! Half the side is back in the hut for Afghanistan. Tossed up delivery on off, Jamal looks to defend but gets an outside edge on this one. It goes towards first slip where Shai Hope takes a comfortable catch. Cornwall gets his fourth wicket. 95/5
Afsar Zazai Wk | 32 | 70 | 3 | 0 | 45.71 |
lbw b Rahkeem Cornwall
61 OUT! LBW! Cornwall has his 6th. Full and around off, spinning in, Zazai gets deep in his crease and shoulders arms. Very risky to do that in India. The ball hits his pads, Cornwall appeals and umpire Reiffel agrees. No DRS, no Hawk Eye available to assist us but to the naked eye, it seems like it might have been spinning down leg. TEA ON DAY 1! 165/8
Rashid Khan C | 1 | 15 | 0 | 0 | 6.66 |
c Rahkeem Cornwall b Jason Holder
42 OUT! CAUGHT! It is Cornwall, Cornwall and Rahkeem Cornwall! He is making his presence felt, though he doesn't need to. This is an excellent catch, after missing a couple of simple opportunities. A seamer strikes at last. On a good length and outside off, Rashid looks to push but his bat is hanging loosely outside off. The ball takes the outside edge and goes towards Rahkeem Cornwall at first slip who gets low and takes a very good catch. 111/7
Amir Hamza | 34 | 84 | 5 | 0 | 40.47 |
c Shane Dowrich b Jason Holder
67.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Hamza's resistance ends at last. The workhorse Holder gets his second wicket. On a good length and outside off, Hamza looks to defend but the ball pitches and then seams away. The outside edge is eked and it goes towards Shane Dowrich who takes a comfortable catch. Fine knock of 34 from the debutant. Played out 14 overs. 187/9
Yamin Ahmadzai | 18 | 22 | 3 | 1 | 81.81 |
c Jomel Warrican b Rahkeem Cornwall
68.3 OUT! CAUGHT! That ends the Afghanistan's innings. Flighted delivery on off, Ahmadzai comes down the track and looks to loft it over long off but does not get the distance on it. It goes towards Warrican who takes a good catch in the deep. AFGHANISTAN ARE ALL OUT FOR 187! 187/10

lbw b Amir Hamza
8.5 OUT! West Indies' perfect day gets spoiled. Brathwaite's poor run continues in Tests. Hamza tosses one up on off and middle, Brathwaite prods forward to defend it but the spin on it beats the defensive push and raps him on the pads. Hamza and the Afghan players go up in a loud appeal. The umpire thinks for a while and then raises his dreaded finger. Replays later on show that the umpire was correct as he was out plumb. 27/1

John Campbell | 55 | 75 | 7 | 1 | 73.33 |
c Ihsanullah b Amir Hamza
30.2 OUT! Ho ho ho! Ihsanulllahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Take a bow. That is a stunner. What an anticipation. The Afghans needed something special to break this partnership and they have got it. Full and outside off, Campbell gets down to paddle but the ball bounces a touch extra, hits the glove and lobs behind towards the vacant leg slip region. Here comes Ihsanullah's athleticism. He is at first slip and is watching the ball like a hawk. Starts running to his right as soon as he sees John attempt the paddle and then dives once he sees the ball airborne. Just about gets his hands to the cherry but manages to hold on and completes a spectacular catch. The 82-run stand is broken and the debutant has his second. 116/3
Shai Hope | 7 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 58.33 |
c Ihsanullah b Rashid Khan
11.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Beauty by Rashid! What a delivery to get rid of the consistent Shai Hope. He bowls a flatter delivery on middle and off, it skids and turns away from Hope after pitching. Shai tries to prod forward and defend but the ball goes off the outside edge and into the hands of Ihsanullah at first slip. Afghanistan off to a very good start and their skipper is leading from the front. 34/2
Shamarh Brooks | 111 | 214 | 15 | 1 | 51.86 |
b Amir Hamza
79.5 OUT! Bowled' em! The centurion departs now, in search of quick runs. A fullish length ball on middle, Brooks lines himself for the slog sweep but plays the shot all around the ball. It goes behind and shatters the wood work behind. Hamza has 4 and the dropped chance does not cost much to the Afghans. End of an excellent innings. 270/9
Shimron Hetmyer | 13 | 21 | 1 | 0 | 61.90 |
lbw b Rashid Khan
37.4 OUT! LBW! Was it spinning down the leg side? Umpire Reiffel does not think so. Flighted delivery on middle, Hetmyer looks to defend off the front foot but gets hit on the pads. The bowler appeals for lbw and the umpire, after thinking for a while, raises his finger. So Hetmyer has come, he has seen but has been conquered on the 21st ball that he has faced. 4 down now, are West Indies, 50 away from Afghanistan's score. 137/4
Roston Chase | 2 | 7 | 0 | 0 | 28.57 |
c Ibrahim Zadran b Zahir Khan
40.1 OUT! CAUGHT! That is a sharp catch by Ibrahim Zadran! Boy, the runs are coming galore, but so are the wickets! The man who can be a glue at the crease has been removed. Chase departs. Flighted delivery on middle, Chase looks to defend but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It lobs to short leg where Ibrahim Zadran initially does not react. The ball goes straight to him, onto his pads and that is when he reacts. He is alert to the fact that the ball will lob up and takes a sharp catch on the second attempt. Well done. Half the side down. Deficit is now 37. 150/5
Shane Dowrich Wk | 42 | 91 | 6 | 0 | 46.15 |
lbw b Zahir Khan
66.3 OUT! LBW! Zahir Khan gets the breakthrough at last. After numerous cries of LBW and caught behinds, finally, the umpire has consented to one. End of an excellent partnership between Shane Dowrich and Shamarh Brooks. Flighted delivery on middle, Dowrich looks to defend but gets hit on the pads. The bowler appeals for lbw and the umpire raises his finger. This one looked plumb, with the ball showing to be pitching in line and just spinning in a bit, hitting the batsman in front of middle stump. A very good knock from Dowrich. Came in at a time when West Indies were in a bit of a bother and has given some ascendancy to his team now. West Indies now lead by 37. 224/6
Jason Holder C | 11 | 14 | 2 | 0 | 78.57 |
st Afsar Zazai b Amir Hamza
71.4 OUT! That is a terrific piece of stumping from Afsar Zazai! For all his shouts and constant chatter behind the wickets, this is some excellent work because his concentration is not wavering at all. The tall Holder fails to hold himself and is gone cheaply. Hamza tosses one up around off and gives it a bit off more air to it. Holder lunges to defend but is beaten by pace. His back leg goes up in the air slightly, probably for not even half a second. But that is enough for Zazai behind the wickets as he is super quick to whip the bails off in a flash. He is confident and goes for the appeal. The umpire goes upstairs to check and then the replays come in. It shows that Jason had lifted his foot in the air and got back in, but only after Afsar had dislodged the bails. Holder takes the long walk back. 243/7

Rahkeem Cornwall | 5 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 55.55 |
lbw b Rashid Khan
76.4 OUT! LBW! Skipper strikes and the big man has to depart. A boundary and now he has to go. Got 7 wickets with the ball but cannot contribute much with the willow. Superb comeback from Rashid. This pitched outside off and then turned into Cornwall. Rahkeem looked to defend but missed. The ball hits the pads and Rashid roars out an appeal. The umpire raises the finger. Cornwall doesn't seem to be happy. Seems like he nicked the ball there. Yes, the replays confirm and the big man was clearly not happy as he was trudging off, showing his bat to the umpire there. A wicket for the Afghans nonetheless. 260/8

19 OUT! The 'Jimbo' Cornwall draws the first blood. The no ball reprieve does not cause much damage to the West Indies. Corwall tosses one up around off, Ibrahim decides to offer no shot to it. The ball spins in enough to rap Zadran on the pads. Cornwall and the entire West Indies team go up in an appeal. The umpire looks for a while and then raises his dreaded finger. The impact would have not mattered as there was no shot offered. 53/1

Javed Ahmadi | 62 | 93 | 11 | 0 | 66.66 |
c Rahkeem Cornwall b Roston Chase
36 OUT! CAUGHT! Well, perhaps Ahmadi should have continued counter-attacking! Because the moment he looks to defend, he nicks one. Where were you, Roston Chase, all this time? From the time he has come on to bowl, he has caused ripples. He has taken his 3rd in the 3 overs he has bowled so far. Coming onto the delivery, Chase tosses one up on the off stump, Ahmadi prods forward and looks to defend it. The ball spins away and takes the outside edge. It is low but Rahkeem Cornwall at first slip bends down and takes the catch in his bucket hands. With this, the umpires also call STUMPS ON DAY 2. 109/7

Ihsanullah | 1 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 20 |
run out (Shai Hope)
20.1 RUN OUT! What have you done, Zadran and Ihsanullah? Poor poor calling this from both the batters. And West Indies have their second. Full ball outside off, Zadran pushes it towards point and takes off for a single while looking at the ball. Ihsanullah too responds and takes a few steps forward but then sends Zadran back. He needs to track back but Hope gets the ball and throws it to the keeper who whips the bails off. Ihsanullah looks back furiously at his partner who turns his back at him. 55/2

c Shamarh Brooks b Rahkeem Cornwall
21 OUT! CAUGHT! Cornwall gets his second wicket in this over! Floated delivery on middle, Rahmat looks to defend off the front foot but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It lobs to short leg where Shamarh Brooks takes a comfortable catch. Afghanistan still trail by 35 runs. 55/3

Asghar Afghan | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
c Shamarh Brooks b Rahkeem Cornwall
22.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Cornwall gets his 10th wicket in the match. Flighted delivery on middle, Afghan looks to flick but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It lobs to short leg where Shamarh Brooks takes another simple catch. What a match this man Rakheem Cornwall is having. 59/4
Nasir Jamal | 15 | 35 | 1 | 0 | 42.85 |
b Roston Chase
31.4 OUT! BOWLED! There you go... see, Chase strikes as well. He is all smiles. Flighted delivery on off, Jamal looks to defend but misses a simple straight ball. Reason, he looked to play that with a cross angle, towards mid on. It should have been according to the line of the ball but it is well inside. The ball just comes in with the angle and hits the off stump! Afghanistan are effectively 6/5! 96/5
Amir Hamza | 1 | 12 | 0 | 0 | 8.33 |
c Rahkeem Cornwall b Roston Chase
33.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Boy, that is a sharp catch by Cornwall! And no reaction either! This time Hamza is not so lucky, after surviving a drop in the previous over. Flighted delivery on off, Hamza looks to drive but gets an outside edge on this one. It goes towards first slip where Rahkeem Cornwall just sticks out his right hand and voila, it sticks! The big man does not even care to celebrate, just throws the ball to the main umpire, as if it is a normal office routine. 8/6 now, are Afghanistan effectively. 98/6
Afsar Zazai Wk | 7 | 24 | 0 | 0 | 29.16 |
c Shane Dowrich b Jason Holder
43.1 OUT! CAUGHT! The last one goes down. The Afghanistan innings comes to an end. Just 8 overs into Day 3 and Afghanistan have been bundled out. Holder takes his third of the morning. Excellent from the tall West Indian skipper. This time he lands one on a length and around off, Zazai looks to punch it through the off side. But he could only manage a faint nick on it. The keeper, Shane Dowrich gobbles it up with ease. 120/10

c Shane Dowrich b Jason Holder
37.1 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! The captain strikes on his first ball of the day and that is just what the Windies skipper would have wanted. That would settle the nerves, if there were any, that is. Holder bowls a jaffa to start off the over. Length ball on middle, nipping away. Rashid looks to make room and defend but the ball goes off the outside edge low down to the right of the keeper, Shane Dowrich, who dives and holds onto a superb catch. Afghanistan 8 down with a lead of just 21 runs. 111/8

b Jason Holder
41.4 OUT! TIMBER! Holder has the last laugh. What a sight for any fast bowler! Stumps flying all around! Jason bowls one on a length and on off, Zazai looks to defend it off the back foot. The ball goes straight on and Afsar gets squared up as the ball goes past his outside edge and hits the top of off stump. Afghanistan effectively 29/9. OUCH! 119/9

4.5 OUT! Something to cheer for Afghanistan here. Hamza has been brilliant throughout the Test. This time he bowls a floated delivery outside off, Brathwaite looks to defend that to the off side but gets the faintest of outside edges on it. The keeper, Afsar Zazai holds onto it superbly. Brathwaite fails for the second time in this Test. However, not that it will matter to the team's cause in this match. 22/1
