The home team from Canada dominated the event with 45 golds as Canada had become the hub of international sports with the Olympics being held in Montreal in 1976. India clinched 15 medals in Canada that included 5 Gold medals. Wrestlers won most of the medals - nine - that included 3 Gold from Ashok Kumar, Satbir Singh, Rajinder Singh. Shuttler Prakash Padukone and weightlifter Ekambaram Karunakaran won the other two gold medals for India.
