About Edinburgh 1970 Commonwealth Games

The Games were hosted by Scotland for the first time and it was also the first edition which was attended by the British Queen. India finished sixth with 12 medals, nine of which were won by the wrestlers in various categories. Ved Prakash, Sudesh Kumar, Udey Chand, Mukhtiar Singh and Harish Rajindra won five gold medals; Sajjan Singh, Bishwanath Singh and Maruti Mane won silver, and Randhawa Singh clinched bronze. Alexander Navis got bronze in featherweight category of weightlifting. Pugilist Shivaji Bhonsle won a bronze in welterweight.
