About Cardiff 1958 Commonwealth Games
This was the largest sporting event ever to have been staged in Wales with several Commonwealth nations sending their teams for it. More than 1000 athletes took part in the event. Here India won three medals- 2 Gold and 1 Silver. 'Flying Sikh' Milkha Singh won India the first Gold in the 440 Yards track event. Grappler Lila Ram Sangwan won a Gold in heavyweight, while Lachmi Kant Pandey won Silver in welterweight category.
