Chris Gayle hit his first century against Sri Lanka in ODIs to help West Indies register a 6-wicket win in the tri-series opener. Sunil Narine bagged 4 wickets, while Mahela Jayawardene and Angelo Mathews scored a fifty each.

But his stay at the crease came to an end when he edged Sunil Narine to wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin. He was out after scoring 52.

Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews remained not out on 55 to ensure the visitors finish on 208 all out.
