In the men's category, Olympian Amit Panghal will be among the eight Indian boxers competing at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Panghal, whose maiden Olympic appearance came in 2021 in Tokyo and ended in despair as he failed to win a medal despite being one of the favourites in his category. Panghal will be loking to make amends for that disappointment in Birmingham.
He had won a silver at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Panghal had won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games and also has a silver to show for his efforts in World Championships. He will be looking to change the colour of his medal and win gold for India in Birmingham.
One of only six boxers and two male boxers representing India at Paris 2024, Panghal will be looking to build on his 2022 Commonwealth Games gold and finally achieve Olympic glory. After missing out in Tokyo 2020, the 28-year-old has another shot at redemption.
