3rd Test, Day 4: Australia Pile up Lead Against India

India resumed on overnight score of 462/8 but could add just three runs to that total. Johnson removed Umesh and Shami to give Australia a 65-run first innings lead.

David Warner gave Australia a breezy start as he went after the Indian bowlers who bowled poor line and length.

Warner had Chris Rogers for company who had three back-to-back fifties to his name before this innings.

After a stroke-filled start, Warner was trapped in front of the stumps by Ravichandran Ashwin.

India's poor time on the field continued as Dhawan dropped an edge off Rogers' bat. He went on to hit his four successive Test 50.

Rogers was living a charmed life as a good, low catch by Dhoni was referred to the third umpire and replays were not conclusive enough to suggest that the Indian keeper had taken the ball cleanly.

Even as the Australian lead was building, a couple of wickets had kept India's hopes alive.

With two new batsmen at the crease - Shaun Marsh and Joe Burns - India looked to amp the pressure on the Aussies.

Debutant Joe Burns was nervy and was caught behind by Dhoni off Ishant for 9 runs.

Shaun Marsh was joined by Brad Haddin and the two were looking to add a crucial partnership before Umesh Yadav got Haddin caught down the leg side by Dhoni for 13.

Shaun Marsh finished with 62 not out to give Australia a lead of 326 runs.
