Seema Punia has won India's fifth gold in the 2014 Asian Games. In Incheon on Monday, Seema threw the disc to 61.03 metres in her fourth attempt to get the better of her Chinese rivals, who finished second and third, respectively. (Day 10 Blog)
Veteran Indian discus thrower Krishna Poonia finished fourth. Her best effort was a 55.57 in her sixth and last throw. (Medal Tally)
Seema Punia has been in good form this year. The 31-year-old from Haryana, had won the Commonwealth Games silver in Glasgow with an effort of 61.61. This has been her maiden Asian Games medal.
Seema's gold-winning effort in Incheon has not been her best career effort. Her best at the senior level came at the 2012 London Olympics where she hurled the disc to a distance of 61.91 metres. She has finished a poor 13th. She did well in Glasgow but missed the gold.
On Monday, the Chinese won silver and bronze with best throws of 59.35 and 59.03. (Full Coverage)
